They've posted a new trailer for the movie online. Here's the link to the official site, which has it (sorry, don't have time to watch it and get the link to the actual trailer, I'm about to head out to work). |

The new trailer looks cool... I'll probably have to go see this movie for my birthday now, since Harry Potter's been moved to next July instead... |

I saw Casino Royale again on DVD yesterday. I've heard somewhere that Quantum of Solace is something of a sequel. Is that so? I can understand why, since Casino Royale never revealed the true villains behind the scheme of getting hold of all those millions that Vesper Lynd stole. |

Yes, Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel. Bond is going after the mystery organization - remember the dude he shot in the leg at the end? That guy is in the trailers for QoS and is undergoing ... interrogation regarding the people he represents. |

I think this movie is probably the what I'm going to go see on my birthday, since I did request that entire week off (as my other week of paid vacation)... I suppose I ought to rewatch Casino Royale before I see it, though. |

After having the Casino Royale dvd for months I finally took the time to watch the movie. It tool me a little time to figure out what was going on but once my brain woke up I really enjoyed the movie. I really like this version of Bond. I can't explain it but there's definitely a difference between Dainiel Craig's "Bond" and all the others. I'm looking forward to the new movie. |

He's a more believable character than the previous ones - a stone cold killer who doesn't rely on laser wristwatches or invisible cars. That's why I like the new version of Bond; he's pretty much a cleaner. Something gone to hell? Send in Bond, and he'll kill his way to the boss. Craig also brings a sharpness, an edge to him that Bonds of the past didn't have (Dalton may have come close, and very early Connery also). You can believe that this guy is a walking, talking, killing machine. But that's just my opinion... |

Yeah I liked the fact that he didn't depend on gadgets to save his butt. Rigil, you explained it perfect. The new Bond definitely has an edge. |

Well, I saw the movie last night, and while it was a good action flick, it did disappoint me somewhat. My main gripe was that it didn't feel all that much like a Bond movie. Granted that Casino Royale took Bond away from all the gadgets and frivolities and turned more serious and dark (and realistic), but it still felt like Bond. Probably more of the Bond Fleming had in mind (although I've only read Dr. No, and that was over a decade ago). Quantum of Solace could with little effort had been transferred into a generic action movie, and have the Bond character be someone else. Still, I did enjoy it. Bond had more edge and anger this time, which is understandable. But sometimes he did show he could feel, like he did with Mathis. Ukrainian Bond girl Olga Kurylenko was hot  (of course) but there was something in her acting that felt lacking. And there never was an affair between Bond and her. I'm not sure I liked the Latin America part of the story. It felt a bit out of time, like a throwback to the 70s and 80s with evil dictators and evil CIA manipulations. This is not how that continent looks like today. And they were in Bolivia, which if you know anything about current events, is pretty silly. They should've been in one of those fictional countries. But there were some good action scenes, from a car chase in the beginning to a plane chase with an old DC-3 later on. I'll give it a grade of 7-. :SmallBum02: :SmallBum02: :SmallBum02: :SmallBum02: :SmallBum02: :SmallBum02: :SmallBum02: |

I caught Quantum of Solace yesterday after class, and, for the most part, enjoyed the heck out of it. KTR hit pretty much all of the high points of the review, and it was easy to see the Bourne influence on the movie (random note: can you imagine a team-up between Bond & Bourne? *shudders*) I totally dug the fact that Bond killed instinctively & reflexively - get in his way, and he kills you - a terrible habit for an investigator, but it certainly leads to some neat scenes as he tries to bluff his way through the next scene 'cause he's killed the only lead. Both of the Bond chicks were pretty hot, though I much preferred Olga ('cause she was kicking some ass and I love me some hot, ass-kicking women). I also really liked M in this movie - despite Bond suffering from Bauer Syndrome (i.e., he's right, but nobody listens to him so he has to go rogue) she never really abandons him in the movie, and instead covers his back the moment she realizes he's onto something. Though he was barely in it, I also really liked the depth Jeffrey Wright (I think) brought to Felix Leiter - he's a good man in a crappy situation trying to do the best he can. I think my grade for the movie is probably fractionally higher than KTR's. I much prefer this kind of Bond movie to the random silliness of the previous flicks, and you could really see the evolution of the character over this movie and the last - sure, he's still a walking, talking, killing machine, but he's becoming more tempered. And I'm sorry, but he would eat Pierce Brosnan's Bond alive, and then ask for seconds. |

Google is your friend if you want to find some hot (and naughty) pics of her... BTW, did you notice the homage to another Bond film in what happened to the other Bond girl? Spoiler: click to toggle |

I definitely liked the girl that Bond didn't sleep with a lot better than "Strawberry Fields"... she was rather a waste of space in the movie. :rolleyesrequest: I mean, other than to have her sleep with Bond, what precisely was her function in the film? Oh, right--she's supposed to "turn him around and put him on a plane back to London"... At least the other girl had a personality of sorts, even if it was one motivated by her desire to get revenge on the guy who killed her family and left her in a burning house because he didn't consider her a threat. |
