I found pretty interesting article about Michael Rapino, his past and his work. I didn't think that he is SUCH a big figure in music industry. The only bad thing that Jolene mentioned only slightly. http://magazine.wsj.com/features/the-big-interview/rock%E2%80%99s-new-republic/ about his financial losses of last year http://www.businessinsider.com/medialoser/michael-rapino Here also a link to pictures from his appearance an testifying in senate (24 feb 2009) http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/sZBMaLcOkMl/Ticketmaster+Live+Nation+CEO+Testify+Senate/3Y6B8ebBUX0/Michael+Rapino And for the most obsessed ones a transcript of his speach)) http://judiciary.senate.gov/pdf/09-02-24RapinoTestimony.pdf And finaly one cool picture http://flickr.com/photos/theshutterclick/3055408402/ |

By my thought, for Jolene the career would be better than a wedding with a business man :thud: :thud: |

If those photos are indication then Rapino is not what you would cal Mr, Handsome. It must have ben love that got Jolene to marry him. I won't be sarky and suggest that money may have been a factor |

Please, do not. It would be insulting to the actress to do so. |

I'm certainly no expert on the entertainment business industry, but it seems to me that Rapino's general ideas are right. With albums sales plummeting in the digital Internet era, the way for music artists to earn their money in the future lies with concerts, tours and other merchandise, not CD sales. The problem he and Live nation might face is that they perhaps jumped on the new band waggon too soon. Only time will tell. |

With finanical crisis it looks like a bad time to make 160 millions contracts with musicians. But if they could pass all congress comittee with this melting of Live nation and Ticketmaster they definitely will secure company's future despite 300 millions losses |

Jolene, like Michael, is a very intelligent person. She also seems like a surprisingly unspoiled and well rounded person for an actress. She said long ago that the men she liked best were "scary smart" and I know exactly what she is talking about -- I like those kind too -- the ones who can always stay one step ahead of me. She evidently isn't affected by the obsession of appearance that Hollywood and so much of the world has. She must have chosen a lifetime mate (hopefully) based on real mutual respect and appeal and love. I think Michael is really cute although he has obviously gained some weight. Sometimes people's priorities change in their lives, too. She is probably really enjoying her life of eating good food, riding horses on the beach in Malibu, being transported by helicopter, going to kickboxing and who knows what other kind of classes, spending time with her dogs and cat, including walking her dogs and doing whatever else she does. Her lifestyle is supported by her husband's total income and perks of $8 million a year and I am sure she gets enough from her films to stay alive at a nice level anyway. She may in fact go the way of Greta Garbo and decide she doesn't want to act anymore at all, although I know she is still auditioning. She does have the luxury of picking and choosing roles though. |

I'm not a concert goer, so I could care less if Live Nation and Tickemaster merged but I just don't think Congress will approve the merger- the new entity would have too much power and virtually no competition. Considering the current climate against Corporate giants, even the Republicans will not want to look too friendly at a potential monopoly. Live Nation/Ticketmaster is not AIG or GM looking for a bailout but from a PR point of view, it looks like two rich white guys who wants Congressional approval to get even richer. |

Looking through that list a bit it's obvious that it's more of a popularity contest among the online readership than anything resembling those people's real influence. |

Problem with this rating is it absolutely pointless. Paper will change it as it wish. In 1998 Mick Foley (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BeU0UH8QSVE/RjpFmcwPsSI/AAAAAAAAAF8/cGNbMVG44Sk/s400/100318201.jpg) won this poll as man of the year, but they decided it not politically correct to give the win to the guy in bizarre mask who whining all the time and gave a win to someone who was more "right". (AL Gore if I remember correctly :oscar: ) Edited by sipovic, 26 Mar 2009, 13:58.
