I still can't forgive the miniskirts. They changed basically everything, including the miniskirts by making them even more revealing - not an improvement. |

I actually think that old Spock was more than enough for this movie. And I can see old Shatner only as Denny Crane! |

This is pretty close to the way I saw Uhura while watching the movie. Granted it was the girls of the family - hubby and SIL need high explosives to blasted into a theater - but we liked Uhura as portrayed and we liked the romance. I think it is the most mature, most caring romance in Star Trek. Certainly has elements of Sarek/Amanda and Trip/T'Pol, but handled very well, and acted well with good chemistry. |

The clips I've seen of the relationship of Spock and Uhura looked like it was well done. I thought it was a good article about the movie.I hope to see the movie soon. |

You know, it's pretty sad when the writers of the movie have to have a podcast in order to address the various complaints about their plot... (the link is to an article about the Q&A with the writers, but it also has the podcaast link on that page). |

They didn't have to have a podcast. This was recorded during an appearance they made for a special screening of the movie hosted by Creative Screenwriting magazine (podcast also by the magazine). During the Q&A after, the editor asked questions he had gathered from the internet, which apparently covered every gripe by fans that's out there. Quite frankly, I don't think a lot of this stuff even needed explanation, and some of it would really have bogged down the movie if explanations had been in the movie. Other things, it's interesting to see their thought process and more in the movie could have been good. But I do think that it hadn't been filmed during the writer's strike, they could have streamlined some of the scenes so they would fit in the time allotted and kept more bits of the story. Looks like the DVD will have material that fills in what some see as serious gaps in the story. |

^ Funny, I just saw TWOK and listened to James Horner's familiar score (which is awesome, btw). But for the life of me I cannot recall any music from Abrams Trek (apart from the Alexander Courage tribute at the end credits). |

I really enjoyed the review that Reanok gave us the link for... I agree with the writer completely. It was a great analysis. I also like the paths that the new timeline Trek characters are taking, especially Spock and Uhura. The writer of the review hit the nail on the head. It was the death of Amanda that caused Spock to become who he always was inside and his willingness to embrace Uhura when she extended comfort was symptomatic of that change. Those of us who watched TOS and thought Spock was the best character on the show always believed the rigid Vulcan exterior masked a passionate human inside. Nu-Trek brings that back in spades, and I loved it! |

The Wrath of Khan is one of my favorite StarTrek movies. i don't want to see Khan in a new Startrek movie revised and changed for a new movie. Montabon's Khan was one of the best villans ever in a trek movie. |

It wouldn't be 'Wrath of Khan'--remember, none of these people have even met Khan yet, so it'd more likely be a two-hour version of "Space Seed"... |

^ And he didn't even mention how they could possibly pick up said red matter, if it's only weighs 1 billion metric tons like in his example to create the itty bitty black hole... |
