I was wondering if anyone has read The Sword Of Truth novels byterry Goodkind. I've watched some of The Legend of the Seeker series that's based on the books. and wanted know if they're any good or just your typical fantasy novel.

The show has almost nothing to do with the books apart from them lifting some names. And, IMO, the show really isn't very good - too Xena like, for my tastes; the book version of Richard Cyper is positively brilliant compared to the idiot on the show. Though the actress they've got playing Kahlan is hot.

So, yeah, I've read some of the books. I think I petered out in the third one. I recently reread "Wizard's First Rule" and it was really hard for me to get through the first couple of chapters because of how poorly the set-up and background was written (the story got much better as it went along.) The books are nowhere nearly as well written as, say, the George R. R. Martin books, but it isn't bad. As I said above, the characters in the novel are much smarter than the ones on the "inspired by" television show.
