Apparently a third pilot (which is an alternate version of Where No Man Has Gone Before) has been rediscovered...

Star Trek's never aired "lost" pilot rediscovered

If you own a Blu-ray player, you can watch it on the 3rd season release that comes out on 15 December... Guess the rest of us who don't have Blu-ray aren't special enough to get to see the alternate version.

ETA: There's a handful of clips in the video included in the story, with such oddities as seeing Sulu in science blue (and being named "chief physicist" in the ending credits), and James Doohan just being called "engineering chief" and apparently the show was supposed to be set outside of the galaxy altogether.

Too bad they won't release the Third Pilot on regular dvds they're trying to force people to buy blueray players and boy are they expensive.

This is not news. And calling it a "third pilot" is a misnomer. It's just a different cut of the second pilot. There's nothing fundamentally different from that one and the episode that was aired.

Those clips have been around for years. I myself have a copy sitting on my harddrive and it's been there for many years. I guess it's just a marketing ploy now that there will be a more hi-def version for the blu-ray release.

Nothing new about Sulu in blue (as "ship's physicist) either. He appeared that way in WNMHGB.

I don't know if it's supposed to have other scenes not in those clips or not. All I know is what the article said.

But yeah, Sci Fi Wire has gone downhill since they revamped it several months ago...
