This weekend my computer has been tied up running a render for some CGI I am working on so I had a chance to catch up on some SciFi!

I watched the pilot of Atlantis last night and I was sucked right in!

I like Atlantis a whole lot more than SG1 so far. I think it is just more my style of TV. The numerous characters and the flaws that these characters have... combined the the action and humour.

And it has a save-the-day scottsman!

Yeah, I love SGA too! I am so happy that Connor was on because I doubt I would ever have watched (well, up to that point, I hadn't seen much about it). I also got hooked on NCIS, Close to Home and Numb3rs thanks to him! Without a Trace didn't grab me (main characters were total snores -- seriously). Ah, well... four outta five...

I just finished Season1 today and started season2... because who could possibly stop on that season cliffhanger...

The arrival of the Marines was a bit too timely.. but heck, I guess they are Marines and thats apparently what Marines do... Being Marines they also has the whole we know more/better then you attitude and they learned the hard way that the Wraith's really didn't care...

Once again I will say that I am enjoying this series mucho more than SG1 (Although I was liking season 9 of SG1 at the beginning)

Glad to see Shepherd promoted and his position of military commander solidified.

Curious to see what happens to Lt Ford...

Rodney just cracks me up... "I am going to lay down and curl up with a big sandwich..."

Rodney is fantastic. And he only gets better with time.

Well i have to say that this show just gets better. It is probably the closest thing to the whole TOS formula of relationships, action and drama that I have come across.

I just finished episode 11 of Season 2 and the fast pase is great. The Wraith are a complete villian and we learn a bit more about them as the episodes progress.

I can see some interesting conflicting 'ships starting up and mixed in with the storline is some excellent action!

Well I just finished the mid season cliffhanger for season 3 when the Atlantians come back, kick out the humans and then get wacked by the Replicators.

the last episode I watched was Rodney becoming a "God"...lololol....

a classic moment was in the sister episode and Rodney calls Sheperd "Kirk"

I find Atlantis sooooo much more enjoyable than SG1. If Enterprise had this level of action/Drama/Humor we would have got more seasons! :oscar:

Hope to watch more tonight!

Moderate you, I will...

The only episode I've seen of this new batch was the one I, um, acquired last night, which was of course, Connor's episode. It's the 19th episode of season 3, Vengeance.

.........new batch?

Do you mean Season 3?

Well hurry up! JK

They are all quite good with some returning characters and villians!

My only issue is there is a bit too much return to earth and SGC stuff.

But I guess when you are trying to build a link of stargates to the MilkyWay Galaxy thats bound to happen.

Rodney names a "Pet" Sam after Samantha Carter!!! :guffaw: :guffaw:

....didn't ever like Kirk.... still shaking my head! :banghead:

What can I say, I found Kirk to be annoying. I much preferred Spock and McCoy, even Scotty, to him. Though I will say that I did like him in some of the episodes that were more fun than anything else (ie, The Trouble with Tribbles or A Piece of the Action) and of course in City on the Edge of Forever, which was probably his best performance in the original run.

As for SGA, no thanks, I'll stick to just watching Connor's episodes of it. He outacts everyone else on that show, IMO. And I can't stand Rodney--hated his character on the two episodes or so I actually saw him in on SG1 when I was still watching that, and he hasn't grown any more likeable since. Like I said, I watched Connor's season 3 episode already (which technically won't air here for another four months or so, probably when I'm on that cruise with my luck, which is the main reason why I acquired it rather than waiting). It was okay, not great, unless you're a fan of bugs and horror movie cliches, which pretty much covers the plot of that episode.

I just finished watching S3Ep15

Rodney and Shepard have found a "Game" in one of the unexplored rooms. Its a game very like Age of Empires...

Problem is of the the off world teams later find that the who thing is real and the two societies have been acting on instructions of the two fo them

Shepards people have built a huge Army and Rodney's people have advanced technologically well beyond their rightful place.

All of a sudden wars erupts between them....

Great stuff...

Gotta say again... LOVE SG:A

Although I am fast approaching that totally evil bad episode where a character is killed off... :hissyfit:

Geez... I hadn't realized until now that the second half of season 3 would be, ehum... "available" and that episode 11 was there all time time since frakkin' november! :wtf:

Oh, and I also just learned that the same channel that has now started airing SG-1 in Sweden is going to show SG-A as well, starting next month.

I just downloaded the last episdoe of Season 3 of Atlantis Ep 20.

So now I have aquired all the Atlantis episodes to the end of S3 and what can I say... GREAT stuff!!

Apparently Season 4 will ahve more with Amanda Tapping and less with Tori Higgingson (Sp) which may casue the show to change but I suspect thats to bring in more of the SG1 crowd becasue SG1 will be over.

Jewel Straite (sp) Kaylee from Firefly is also joining the cast... but not as a wraith like her prior guest role.

I am now on episode 16 and I admit I skipped ahead to 19 to watch Connor's episode but its back to 16 tonight.

Watched Season 3 episode 16 and 17... the Death of Carson bekett... I was very disappointed TPTB decided to get rid of that character... and in such a dumb way.

Carson extracts the explosive tumor and instead of leaving the room... he walks it to the bomb disposal guys and... BOOM!

Now I am watching episode 18, the Wraith in the underwayer drilling platform.... very creepy. I love the Wraith episodes...lol...

I also have the last episode of Season 3, episode 20 and will be watching that one probably tomorrow.

Is it true that Atlantis is not new in the US until May?

That sucks!

So, they're airing a SG:A marathon today on Sci-Fi and I'm halfway watching it. I'm fairly sure these are all season 1 eps, but the one airing now kinda pisses me off. It's a fraking clip show! In the first season! :wtf:

And I thought reset buttons were the height of writer's laziness. :vulcan:

Does it have some guy named Ford in it and no Ronin? If so, then it probably is season 1...

But yeah, that is pretty lame having a clip show during the first season. What could they possibly have clips of at this point? "Oh, this is how we arrived at Atlantis"... And this is when we met Teyla's people... Oh, yeah, this is when we woke up the Wraith..."

ETA: See you later, have to head off to work now, so I can eat before I start...

Season 1, yeah. The Wraith are en route to Atlantis and a bunch of characters are recording messages to be sent to Earth, so they intersperse these dumb clips from previous episodes in between the messages. It's really, really annoying IMO.

Right, so The Siege is airing and I can help but to think that this battle would have been a lot easier if the SG program had got some Naval assistance. Park a couple of the Phalanx CIWS systems in the city and let the R2-D2s go to town.

And I have to laugh at the fact that the marines are carrying AT-4s (that'd be the tube-looking things that some people would erroneously call bazookas.) They're not bad against tanks or emplacements (like bunkers), but against flying vehicles (like the Darts), they're utterly useless since they're not guided. You fire them and they hit what's in front of them; a Stinger would be much, much better...

That said, this is a pretty damned good finale! I've not seen it all the way through before, but I've gotta say, this is easily one of the better season finales of any show. Ranks well above any of the Enterprise finales (which, apart from Zero Hour all kind of stunk and even that one had the craptastic alien Nazis), and is even better than the various Farscape finales.

I watched some of the first season shows yesterday. It was the first time I've seen the these episodes about the Wraith so I thought some of the information was interesting to me. That man who was the leader of Teyla's people I think he's really annoying when he bugs Dr. Weir right in the middle of a crisis when the wraith were attacking Atlantis.

Have you become an SG-A fan yet, Rigil?

I saw the first episode of season four today, and it seems they're going to off Elizabeth Weir in some way and replace her with Samantha Carter. Um, I've got nothing against Amanda Tapping (although I've never been that enamoured with her as some have), but why? She had 10 seasons of her own show and poor Torri Higginson has only been on for 3 seasons of SG-A.

Why this change? Did Higginson want out or did TPTB think that Carter would appeal to more older SG-1 fans? And I know that there was a fan outcry when Dr. Beckett was killed but I've heard nothing from fans about Torri's departure. What about the Shepard/Weir 'shippers? They at least ought to be disappointed!
