Impressed. Good thoughts that have given me things to ponder. I also wonder if I can tie the events of Storm Front into the formation of the MU ... like maybe something the NX-01 crew did back in WWII caused a major divergence that led to the MU...

So, operating with those excellent thoughts in mind, how's this for revised character notes?

Charles Tucker, III. Captain/CPT, Commanding Officer of the ISS Endeavour. Bitter, cynical and disillusioned with the Empire, Tucker earned his command the old-fashioned way: he blackmailed someone for it (in this case, the Empress herself). He was once a true believer in the Empire of Man, but has in recent years grown to realize that it is a bloated bureaucracy that relies on conquest for its continued survival. The Terran Empire must constantly expand (militarily) or it will collapse under its own weight. He is particularly frustrated with his nearly impossible to define relationship with T'Pol; it's not love, but is more than simple lust. Her betrayal of him was the latest in a long line of betrayals, and firmly convinced him that life in the Empire isn't worth shit. When he blackmailed Sato to gain command of Endeavour, he also included T'Pol's life in his price; it was his intent to make her regret what she had done to him, but he was unexpectedly moved by pity when he saw what had been done to her during her captivity. He is well aware that he cannot trust T'Pol entirely, but finds that he is unable to cut himself off from her, so he continues their game of deceit and manipulation.

But he is growing tired of it.

(It is unknown whether Tucker read his alternate's bio, but given his insistence on being named commander of Endeavour, it seems logical to presume that he did.)

T'Pol. Commander/CDR, Executive Officer of the ISS Endeavour. The highest ranking Vulcan in the Terran Fleet, she is also the most infamous. She is unable to return home to Vulcan, as most of her fellows believe that she sold out the rebellion against the Terran Empire, which is why she was not executed like so many other members of the resistance in the wake of Empress Sato's great purge. She is further aware that attempts to correct the record and rejoin the resistance will lead to Vulcan being savaged by Imperial warships. Without a home to return to, she is left with no options but to remain aboard Endeavour (until such a time as she can find a way to change her fortunes.) Under Sato's direction, T'Pol was turned into a trellium addict during her captivity, and still struggles with the aftermath of that. She no longer understands the motivation of her captor/savior, Charles Tucker, as, before the Defiant, he never displayed any interest in the position of ship commander. That he demanded her release from captivity after what she did to him further confuses her. She suspects that a mating bond has been established between them, but has managed to suppress most of its effects through superior discipline and control.

As the fic proper begins (probably around 2156 or 2157), she has become aware of Tucker's disillusionment with the Empire (although he has concealed it before everyone else), and is attempting to determine if this disillusionment is truth or an attempt by Tucker to manipulate her. Much will hinge on what she decides...

Other Character Notes:
Eisler: Cold and efficient, he is walking death. A product of MACO black ops, his pain and pleasure centers have been surgically removed so, more than a Vulcan, he feels nothing. He has few morals, fewer compunctions, and no mercy whatsoever. He is also fanatically loyal to Tucker.

Hess: Knowledge of exactly how much shorter her life could be due to her job, she has become a hedonistic seeker of pleasure. If it moves and breathes, she will sleep with it, regardless of gender or species. If it could potentially kill brain cells, she'll drink it or smoke it or eat it. She is the doctor's most common patient, as he is the man she turns to when she needs to be sober quickly.

Hsiao: Currently "involved" with Devereux, whom everyone knows he killed Drahn over. He is dangerously jealous over her, so most crewmen and officers leave her alone.

Devereux: Currently "involved" with Hsiao. Killed Drahn when she discovered that he was planning on sabotaging Endeavour; as she had no proof of this fact, and his expertise was sorely needed, she let it be known that Hsiao had killed the Andorian engineer. Although the deceased engineer was not human, she is still worried that she will be punished over her actions, and suspects that people know – why else would they go out of their way to avoid her?

Mackenzie: A member of Internal Security, he is a true believer in the Empire, and has been placed aboard Endeavour to monitor both Tucker and T'Pol (whom the Empress doesn't fully trust.) He blames both Tucker and T'Pol for the death of LT JG Li, and is attempting to find a way to have the captain killed and T'Pol blamed for it. As the COB, he is as powerful as the captain while aboard Endeavour.

Soong: A cypher. He seems to thrive on the political maneuvering taking place between Mackenzie and Tucker, and his allegiances seem to shift with the wind (so to speak.) He has aided Tucker twice with no demand for repayment (T'Pol's addiction & Eisler's Krupitzer's), but has also done the same for Mackenzie. No one is sure what "side" he will ultimately be on.

Alright - as much as I'm getting into this whole MU version of Endeavour -- it's taking you from more important things -- like Endeavour actual. (heh)

SO - it is with a heavy heart I ask you to return your thoughts to Medea (and also to FDN for that matter).

Then again, perhaps this little side trip is what your muse needs to recharge for the RU version of things.

Oh, and I like the new bios. I *really* like how Mackenzie is a loyalist out to frame T'Pol/Tucker. He'll never see Eisler coming. ...slit...

Well, like I said, this is mostly a side project wherein I wanted to get more input than I normally get with the creative process.

glad to say that helping you with yours, has help me with my MU fic. It's still got a ways to go, but I'm over the current speed bump. And I've managed to do it without taking any plot ideas from yours (not always easy to do -- i know I've got several bits and pieces from other peoples fics in my stories -- I like to think of them as 'nods' to those who have inspired me).

I have a MU-verse question - which may belong in it's own thread since it's for my story, not yours Rigil. Did the Xindi still attack earth? I suppose the sphere builders would definitely see earth as a threat, so my guess it that season 3 pretty much played out. Do ya'll agree? Or did it not happen at all and earth just threw stones at the Tholians?

'Tis an interesting question. In my version, I'm going to say No since the events of IAMD didn't correspond with anything happening in the RU (as happened in TOS' Mirror Mirror). I also can't see the Terran Empire version of Earth being as undefended as the RU version was, so the initial weapon would have been destroyed by planetary defenses almost the minute it appeared in orbit - given the harshness of life in the MU, it stands to reason that they operate on a Shoot First, Ask Questions (If Absolutely Necessary) Next Week policy, so anything not scheduled for appearance would get zotted.

The alternate season 3 background that is kind of lurking in my fragile eggshell mind is that Andorian rebels (likely led by that infamous criminal Shran ... who humiliated CDR Archer the last time they fought) began conducting guerrilla strikes on the outer holdings of the Empire. Shran becomes the "Robin Hood" of the rebellion, and the thrust of this MU alternate season 3 is Enterprise trying to hunt him down and kill him while he leads them on a merry little chase. I guess I could see him perhaps masterminding a suicidal assault on Earth (ala the Doolittle Raids of WWII) that result in the same sort of destruction as the Xindi probe. Many of the actual episodes that took place during season 3 could still happen with minor adjustments (with notable exceptions of the Magic!Reset!Button since MU T'Pol was very obviously afraid of Archer, and would likely just shove him in an airlock and vent it to space if the opportunity presented itself). I'd also ditch the trellium addiction although she could still be exposed to it in an alternate Impulse (which later explains how Empress Sato knows of its effects.)

The final battle of the season would be an Earth assault fleet taking on Shran's rebel fleet. There wouldn't be a decisive victor, as both sides knock the piss out of each other and then limp away to claim that they "won." Shran, of course, would survive, although it could look like he didn't.

Then comes the alternate season 4 which would have to be pretty different from the one we saw on ENT simply based on some of the subject matter. Can anyone see MU T'Pol inviting MU Tucker home to Vulcan? I sure can't. Or, for that matter, any of the Super!Archer & Sidekick!Polly's Amazing Desert Adventure. None of season 4 works, so it would have to be seriously rewritten.

Just my thoughts...

I too was thinking that earth would have WAY better defenses in MU, and thus the Xindi probe would never make it through. But... I thought that *if* the MU Sphere builders were up to their old tricks, and the Xindi did try to take a pot shot at earth - maybe they would succeed. The Empire would actually know about it - would know it was coming - and let it. See, thier earth-bound subjects were getting a little restless, wanting more freedoms -- and the empire already has a rebellion on thier hands with aliens stirring up trouble. So, they let the Xindi zap earth. the public crys out for better security. "Security you say.. no problem,"says the Empire. "See, the aliens are to blame for your troubles." And the gauntlet tightens.

...but a certain engineer learns the truth.....

crazy idea?

Don't get me wrong - I like your idea. But it's your idea - for your END universe - and you should run with it. I'm just trying to sus out if my idea is too 'off' or not.

crazy idea?

Far from it. It rather reminds me of something I read in one of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, actually, where one of the Whitecloaks made a comment about setting a lion loose in a courtyard. Damn ... I wish I could remember the quote...

Anyway, I like the idea a lot.

Haven't gotten very far in this (for various reasons), but I did kind of get the first scene sort of written which sets up a lot of stuff. IAMD took place in January 2155, and this is set mostly concurrent with Endeavour: Medea (December 2157.) The teaser took place in 2155...

So, what d'ya think?

Quote:

Lieutenant Commander T'Pol was dying.

Her every muscle trembled as the need washed through her.  Pain pulsed through her body with each beat of her heart, and she clutched the already sodden sheets closer, as if that could help.  She bit her lip to prevent from howling, and could taste blood.  Every nerve ending seemed to be on fire, and only one thing could assuage the agony.

Trellium D.

A cool human hand touched her forehead, and T'Pol heard a voice that was vaguely familiar to her.  At any other time, she would have been able to identify the voice, but with the desperate need for trellium robbing her of sentient thought, she was simply glad to be able to recognize the gender of the male speaking.  A second male answered the first one, and she recognized Charles Tucker's voice at once.  He was her savior and her destroyer.  She hated him.  She loved him.  She hated and loved him.

The hiss of a hypospray at her neck seemed to send a torrent of ice into her veins, and T'Pol shuddered as a diluted trellium solution entered her body.  Almost at once, she could feel the withdrawal symptoms begin to diminish, and control slowly begin to return.  She drew in a shuddering breath, coughing as she tasted blood.

"How much longer?" Tucker was asking, his tone furious.  T'Pol shivered with arousal at the effect his voice had on her; it was the drug that was responsible, of course.  She wouldn't be aroused by him otherwise.  Except when he was angry.  Or annoyed.  Or perhaps...

"I told you it would take some time to break this addiction, Captain," the other male voice answered, interrupting her rapidly degenerating train of thought.  She focused on the words, used them to claw her way back to sentience.  "The Empress' agents were quite efficient."

Fury pulsed within T'Pol at those words, as fractured memories flooded into her mind's eye.  Sato's laugh seemed to mock her, and T'Pol could still remember the emotional tidal wave that the initial overdose of trellium had caused.  The logic behind Sato's actions was terrifyingly astute: by making T'Pol dependent on the empress for continued trellium injections, Sato would have established control over her Vulcan rival.  Day after day, the trellium had been applied, and, day after day, T'Pol had felt her sanity slowly slipping away.

"T'Pol, can you hear me?"  Tucker's voice was close to her, and the sensation of his breath upon her ear send another wave of arousal through her.  The fledgling control that she had gathered shattered as his wonderful scent filled her nostrils.  She wanted to wrap herself around him, wanted to kiss him until he had no breath left.  The memory of his hands upon her face, upon her ears, upon her breasts caused her to tremble, and she smiled lazily.

The impact of his hand across her face snapped her out of her addled memories, and T'Pol's combat-honed instincts sent her into a rolling spin away from the source of the unexpected assault.  Her legs buckled the instant she tried to stand, and she nearly fell. Tucker caught her, and she glared at him.

"Are you with us again?" he growled, and T'Pol ripped her arm free from his grasp.  She clutched the biobed quickly to prevent falling and gave the room a quick look.  It was a human medical facility, she realized.  Aboard a starship.

"Where am I?" she demanded, frowning in recognition of the other male.  Arik Soong's reputation was, to say the least, a dark one, and she could vaguely recall seeing him at least once during her imprisonment.

"Aboard Endeavour," Tucker replied sharply.  He was wearing captain's pips, T'Pol realized, and she wondered whether he deserved congratulations or condolences.  "You've been here for a week," he continued, and T'Pol frowned at his words.  She had no recollection of coming aboard this vessel, though her memory was currently shot through with holes.  Her confusion must have been on her face as Tucker expounded.  "I arranged it," he said, crossing his arms and glowering at her.  She was surprised at how effective his glare was.

"Should I thank you?" she snapped peevishly.  "Or damn you?"  Her head was still swimming, and T'Pol closed her eyes to fight the vertigo.

"I'm already damned, so I don't care either way," Tucker replied, his tone so indifferent that she had to open her eyes to look at him.  "Doctor Soong is gonna help you break this trellium habit," he stated grimly, and T'Pol grit her teeth at the implication that Tucker was making decisions for her now.  It meant something, but she didn't know what.  "I need the competent officer that you were before you went muckin' about in the Defiant's computers an' lost your edge," he almost snarled.  She blinked in surprise at the anger in his voice, and wondered if he had read his alternate's file as well.

"Why?" she asked, and Tucker gave her an incredulous look before shaking his head.

"In case you forgot," he growled, leaning forward over the biobed to put his face within centimeters of hers, "there's a war goin' on."  T'Pol swallowed as his overwhelming scent once more assaulted her olfactory nerves.  She hated that he could do this to her.  "You're gonna be my second so I need you thinkin' straight," Tucker stated, and her eyes widened in surprise at that.  It seemed inconceivable that Sato would trust her with such a position, given her previous affiliations.  Tucker straightened, and fixed the silent Soong with an angry glare.  "Get that damned drug out of her system, Soong."  He said nothing else as he turned and departed the medical facility.

Eyes wide, she watched him leave.  To her horror, T'Pol could feel his emotions dwindling as he put distance between them.  It could only mean one thing, and she closed her eyes tightly to fight the terror that it sent through her.  Her hands trembled as she clutched the biobed to steady herself, and the sensation of being observed sent a shiver up her spine.  Soong was watching her, she realized.

"How long?" she asked as she opened her eyes and pinned the doctor with a heated look.  He gave her a mocking smile.

"You've been in the Empress' less than kind care for nearly three years," Soong replied, and T'Pol felt her stomach clench in anger.  Glancing down to hide her emotions, she drew in a sharp breath as she took in the appearance of her body.  Her once trim figure was now almost skeletal, a victim of three years of constant abuse, and her weakened muscles trembled nearly constantly.  Disgust swelled within her, and she fought against the urge to weep as she felt the need for trellium slowly begin gathering strength once more.

"The recovery program is going to be difficult," the doctor announced as he tossed a PADD onto the biobed in front of her.  "We'll be slowly weaning you from trellium over the next three weeks," he continued in a bored tone.  T'Pol reached for the data device, but paused as she caught sight of her reflection on a wall mirror.  The despair and fury began swirling in her stomach as she stared at the stranger who looked back.

"Are you listening?" Soong demanded testily, and T'Pol looked away from the broken woman in the mirror.

"Yes," she replied simply.  "Three weeks is too long," she declared.  "Can it be reduced?"

"It'll be painful," the doctor pointed out, a wry smile on his face.  "Very painful, but I think we can break the physical addiction within two weeks."

T'Pol nodded as she dragged herself back onto the biobed.  Soong, she noticed, made no attempt to assist her.  It was for the best, she decided.  There was a great deal of work to do if she was to become self-sufficient once more, and she would not be broken again.

Never again.

ooooOOOooooo

3 years - yikes!

I'm torn - I want to read more Janus, but I also want more Medea. I guess at this point I'll settle for anything new from you, Rigil. Here's hoping your Muse has drifted back our way (which is purely selfish of me).

Well, I have been posting some stuff at my LiveJournal that I'm eventually going to submit later ...

As to the 3 years, it was a nifty idea I had in order to explain why MU Tucker experiences pity instead of rage. He's had a lot of time to "get over" his anger at what she did to him, and seeing her as little more than a strung out junkie who was forcibly addicted to a killing substance, has an effect.

In regards to Medea, I'll get back to it at some point, but given the back-to-back fics (Acheron, Grendel, and then Medea), I think I burned out a little bit on that version of the Endeavour-verse. I'm not done there, just not focused on it right now...

That Endeavour Janus ecene was well written T'Pol being addicted for 3 years because of Hoshi she's vindictive as an Empress isn't she. Rigil I've enjoyed what you've posted so far on your LJ site.

Oooohhh! Very nice indeed, Rigil!

A very promising start. I'm guessing the line:

Quote:

To her horror, T'Pol could feel his emotions dwindling as he put distance between them.  It could only mean one thing, and she closed her eyes tightly to fight the terror that it sent through her.

means that a Bond has been formed between them!?

One thing though:

The MU-verse uses those shnazzy backwards shoulder boards instead of the TNG-inspired pips. ;)

Oh yeah. Thanks for reminding me of that...

And KTR, that is the intent.

As I sort of laid down a rudimentary plot, I realized that, despite their front and center role in this fic, T'Pol and Tucker really weren't driving the story (to my surprise). Instead, it's the conflict between Eisler and Mackenzie that pushes it forward, while T'Pol and Tucker try to figure out their relationship.

Below is my working outline which isn't done 'cause I'm still revising it. I have some concerns with this ... for one thing, T'Pol is a lot less ... aggressive in this story than in IAMD, although I plan to address that. It is a result of three years of psychological abuse at the hands of the Empress. I dunno if it'll ever actually show up in the story because I dunno if T'Pol will ever admit it to herself, but, by the time of this story, she is afraid of Sato.

Which leads to some problems as I wanted the fic to ultimately end with them saving the life of Sato from a coup (Reed, by the way) which leads to Vulcans being in the social pecking order that they were in during TOS' "Mirror Mirror", but I can't see T'Pol not wanting to break the Empress in retaliation for what happened to her.

So I'm a little concerned that my MU T'Pol is too ... fluffy... so any feedback you may have would be appreciated.

=/\=

TEASER
Sato POV.

  • Tucker demands Endeavour ... and T'Pol

ACT ONE
T'Pol POV.

  • Nearly 3 years later
  • T'Pol emerges from her drug-addled state, discovers that Tucker is now CPT of Endeavour.
  • She has been broken by Sato.

Tucker POV.

  • Use this to give some background of what has happened in the last 3 years.
  • The rebellion is basically crushed. Sato, with the backing of Starfleet (somehow), smashed the rebellion (since she controlled Defiant), and then smashed the House of Lords and the Emperor.
  • How did she get Starfleet to back her? Through fear (of Defiant), assassination (Reed, Mayweather), and promise of future prospects (Starfleet officers are going to be the new nobility). She is now firmly in control of the Terran Empire.
  • Tucker has been the commander of Endeavour for nearly two years now and has been working toward getting T'Pol back. His previous first officer (CDR Stiles) attempted to kill him, but, thanks to Eisler and Hess, had an unfortunate transporter accident.
  • Was planning on making a run for it once he got his ideal crew, but war with the Romulans has broken out (the Rommies were responding to the now deceased V'Las' plea for assistance). Although he's not loyal to the Empire, he's still loyal to Earth, so he can't leave yet...
  • Is completely disgusted with what Sato had done to T'Pol, and is experiencing a weird sense of pity for the Vulcan. Has even seen T'Pol weeping as the massive neural damage done to her takes its toll. Reflects on the "favor" – alternate Bounty and the bug that caused T'Pol faux pon farr. Is torn as he hates what she did to him, yet can't get over her. (NOTE: There is no reference to the "bond" in the Defiant database, as I can't see TOS Vulcans revealing something this private.)
  • Has read and secretly copied the entire Defiant database. Some references to future events in the Endeavour series (of which I shan't spoil here...)

T'Pol POV.

  • Almost two weeks later, she is still struggling with withdrawal and slowly working herself back to previous conditioning.
  • Is sleeping in the captain's cabin alongside Tucker. When she learned of this, she expected that he would require her to serve as his sexual partner, but he has made no indication of any such desires (which confuses the hell out of her since she does have such desires). Is quite aware that her presence in his bed serves as a protective measure from the junior officers; most believe that Tucker is screwing her, so she's sort of safe for now.
  • Tucker has warned her that his cabin is monitored at all times, so if she even tries to meld with him again, his operatives will know.
  • Outside of his cabin, Tucker is always accompanied by a member of Eisler's hand-picked team of MACOs. To her surprise, she is as well and has learned that they are, in fact, guards meant to protect her from assassination attempts.
  • Is completely baffled at the change in Tucker. On Enterprise, he never really displayed any hint of desire for command rank, yet he has clearly become an excellent command officer in her brief absence. He is also no longer the emotionally driven person he once was, and now keeps a tighter rein on his emotions than she does.
  • Has become convinced that a mating bond has spawned between them, and doesn't know how to react to such a discovery. At least it explains why Tucker would be so interested in her well-being, but she doesn't think that he knows about it (since the bond is still mostly a secret.)
  • Has discovered that Sato let it be known that T'Pol "cooperated" with the Empire against the rebels (to explain why the Vulcan has been returned to active duty), so T'Pol cannot return to Vulcan ever again.
  • Has deduced that Tucker has surrounded himself with completely loyal officers (like Eisler the Killing Machine, and Hess the Slut). Is wondering if perhaps Tucker was planning on making a run for it...
  • Doesn't know where Soong's loyalties lie...
  • Learns about their current situation: at war with the Romulans who have enlisted the aid of the Xindi. Endeavour is part of a taskforce being deployed against the Xindi to teach them the error fo their ways.

Mackenzie POV.

  • Hates Tucker and blames him for the death of PO1 Allison Li (she's not an officer in this universe).
  • Is involved in a power struggle with Tucker over the loyalty of the crew. Is also trying to figure out how to get Tucker killed and the captain's Vulcan whore blamed for it.
  • MAJ Eisler punishes a crewman (what division?) who was part of an attempt on the captain's life. As the COB, it is Mackenzie's job to observe the punishment. Eisler lets it be known that he suspects the COB of being involved, and warns Mackenzie to watch himself. COB is well aware that the major is a walking, talking instrument of death and carnage, and getting on the MACO's bad side is a quick way to die. COB still doesn't know how Tucker gained Eisler's devotion.
  • Interacts with Soong, whom Mackenzie believes is loyal to the Empire. Learns that the crewman won't die but will have a lot of psychological trauma to deal with (Eisler is very good, after all).
  • Learn at the end of this scene that he is a member of Internal Security, assigned to Endeavour by Director Reed to "keep an eye on" Tucker.

ACT TWO
Tucker POV.

  • Several weeks later.
  • Task force is nearing the thermobaric clouds that surround the Delphic Expanse. (How many ships?)
  • Learn that some of the weapons being deployed in this operation are directly acquired from information obtained from Defiant's computers. At least one of the weapon systems is based on microsingularity research made by T'Pol's alternate.
  • Glad that T'Pol is finally returning to form. She's no longer weak, and the last of the trellium has been completely flushed from her system. Their ... relationship remains poorly defined; he stills lusts after her like there's no tomorrow, and suspects that she reciprocates that, but he doesn't think he can trust her anymore. Reveal that she was the only person he trusted since his entire family is gone; he never intended to trust her since she's a Vulcan, and thus a second-class citizen, but somehow, he did. When she betrayed him, it was the last of life's little disappointments, and firmly convinced him that he can trust no one.
  • He still doesn't know why he shares her bed. It's like sleeping with a cobra ... and yet, he cannot make himself stop...
  • Interacts with Hess, and is frustrated at the engineer's continuing behavior even though he understands it. As an engineer, Hess' lifespan isn't expected to be the longest, so she's something of a hedonist. Orders her to visit Soong and get cleaned up – the situation is too damned important for her to be burning out brain cells with alcohol or drugs. Makes it clear that this is not a request.
  • Narrowly evades an assassination attempt. His MACO bodyguard (Kemper?) does not survive. The attacker is a new crewmember whom Tucker kills (flash back to him killing Phlox?)

T'Pol POV.

  • In Sickbay, attending her captain (she doesn't want to think about him being her mate.)
  • Eisler is present, along with Mackenzie and Soong. The MACO will be launching a full investigation into this attack on Tucker, and implies that the COB may have indirect links to this attack. In the meantime, he will be doubling the guards on Tucker.
  • When Eisler and Mackenzie are gone, Tucker questions Soong, revealing that the attacker had to have some medical assistance (combat drugs perhaps?) The doctor prevaricates, and T'Pol realizes that the captain knows Soong isn't telling the whole truth.
  • She departs with Tucker, following his lead to their quarters. As promised, there are four guards (two for both of them) accompanying them to the cabin.
  • Inquires about Soong once in the cabin. It's clear that Tucker doesn't trust him, so she doesn't understand why he keeps the man around. Tucker points out that Soong has his uses, and he doesn't trust anyone. Not anymore. Besides, Soong is predictable. Soong will do whatever is best for Soong.
  • Tucker's injuries are worse than he (or Soong) let on, and he is barely able to hobble toward the shower. T'Pol considers, and then joins him in the shower to help. There is no mistaking his body's reaction to her presence, but Tucker refuses to take it any farther since, as he reminds her, he can't trust her anymore.
  • As Tucker sleeps, T'Pol observes him and wonders when his trust became so important to her.

Eisler POV.

  • Continues his investigation. He knows that Mackenzie is responsible, but can't prove it.
  • Interacts with Soong, and we learn why Eisler is a Tucker fanatic: the captain provided a cure for the terminal condition that plagued Eisler (acquired from the Defiant, no doubt), and had Soong craft it. It requires daily injections for a while longer, but the captain instructed Soong to show Eisler how to make it himself.
  • From Soong, Eisler learns that the enlisted guy that Eisler interrogated at the end of act one died mysteriously. Everything points to it being an accident in engineering, but the major knows better.
  • Learn a bit more about Eisler: he's a killjoy, with the pain and pleasure centers of his brain having been removed when he became a member of MACO black ops.
Links the dead guy to a couple other enlisted personnel with questionable backgrounds, and orders his team to secure their capture.
  • Decides to have the COB present since this is more about Mackenzie than the three losers that are about to die.

Mackenzie POV.

  • Forced to witness three more of his covert operatives under Eisler's questioning tactics (read torture), and realizes that he's going to have to step up his timetable. The major is getting too close, too fast, and, at this rate, it's only a matter of time before Eisler links Mackenzie to the latest attempt on Tucker's life.
  • Interacts with Soong, and acquires certain chemicals and biological material that will aid his attempt against Tucker.
  • Considers his assets: he can no longer count on CPO Rostov, as the man is utterly besotted with LCDR Hess; the security troopers are entirely loyal to Eisler and Tucker; and T'Pol is not an option since A. Mackenzie doesn't trust her and B. she's evidently been broken by Tucker.
  • Ultimately decides that he'll have to do this himself, and begins setting up the virus. Plans to unleash it in Tucker's cabin while he's sleeping.
  • End scene with him learning, from Director Reed, that a coup was in the works.

ACT THREE
Tucker POV.

  • A month or so later.
  • They're closer to the target now, and have already lost two ships to the anomalies in the Expanse. Tension is high, made more so by the ongoing crew problems.
  • Has been made aware (by Soong) of the strife between Eisler and Mackenzie, and wonders if he should just have the COB executed. On the heels of that, however, is self-disgust at having sunk low enough to begin playing the stupid Imperial game.
  • Wishes there was some way he could just get the hell away from it all, someplace where he didn't have to always worry about someone stabbing him in the back.
  • Aware of T'Pol watching him, and imagines that he can almost tell what she's thinking. Since their ... shared shower some weeks ago, he's been avoiding her.
  • Infuriated that, for whatever reason, he can't get her out of his head. Knows that, if he showed up at her door, Hess would most assuredly sleep with him, but, whenever he thinks of sex, his mind automatically turns to T'Pol. Wonders if she did something to him when she was in his head.
  • As they near the target, they pass through a subspace corridor (need to research how they referenced it in E2) and are flung forward to the 26th Century. They are unaware of what happened, only that something happened.
  • Before they can research what happened, they reach the target to discover the Xindi ships much, much more advanced than they should be.
  • Space battle begins.

T'Pol POV.

  • The Terran Empire taskforce gets its ass righteously hammered as they find themselves facing 26th Century foes. In virtually every way, the Xindi ships are vastly superior to the Terran ships, and the battle should reflect this.
  • She discovers, to her surprise, that Tucker is an exceptional combat commander, and it is due to his skill that Endeavour is not shattered. Tucker uses several dying Terran starships as cover and deploys the "singularity bomb" on the Xindi homeworld before ordering Endeavour to flee. This leaves several disabled human ships behind to suffer the brunt of Xindi wrath as the bomb basically destroys the planet.
  • T'Pol finds herself uneasy with the notion that this weapon was constructed using research by her alternate. Knowing that woman as she does (from the Defiant files), she knows that RU T'Pol would be appalled that her scientific work had been turned into wholesale slaughter. In this moment of maudlin fancy, she realizes just how much damage that Sato's torture did to her; before the addiction and recovery, T'Pol would never have cared about this sort of thing.
  • Endeavour gets clear of the target, and T'Pol realizes that they are not in their universe, but are rather in some sort of parallel one, four centuries later than they should be. Evidently, in their universe, the Xindi homeworld is protected by temporal anomalies, making it virtually impossible to reach in their universe. She quickly determines that they have to be at exactly the same speed and angle of approach when they hit the corridor if they want to get home.
  • As the Xindi ships pursue, furious at the destruction of their homeworld, Endeavour flashes through the corridor and back to their universe. T'Pol quickly points out that the Future!Xindi could still destroy them if they come into this universe, so Tucker orders their payload (including the second "singularity bomb") to be fired at the corridor. With a big boom, it collapses, just as one of the ships begins to pouring through. The explosion utterly destroys the Xindi ship.

Mackenzie POV.

  • Later.
  • Repairs are underway, and the crew are just a little bit freaked out that they traveled to an alternate future. Mackenzie idly wonders what will happen to the Earth of that universe, given that there were some escape pods launched by destroyed Imperial ships.
  • Due to the battle, his little war with Eisler had to pause, but now that it's over, he resumes his efforts to have Tucker, T'Pol and Eisler killed. From Soong, he learns about Eisler's terminal disease and begins plotting to contaminate the major's treatments.
  • He suddenly realizes who he needs to recruit...

Hsiao POV.

  • Background on Hsiao: he's involved in a really fraked up relationship with Devereux that is almost entirely psychological abuse. She killed Drahn when she learned that the Andorian was attempting to sabotage Endeavour but is afraid that she'll be punished for killing an engineer. Hsiao allowed it to be known that he killed Drahn over her, and uses this to keep her in her place. He suspects that she hates him, but her fear is greater so she does what he says.
  • Is also involved with Hess, although that's more frak buddies than anything serious.
  • Addicted to something? Need another way to show that Soong is playing all sides...
  • Recruited by Mackenzie who plays on Hsiao's desire for advancement.

ACT FOUR
Tucker POV.

  • T'Pol reveals the mating bond? As the bond is unbreakable, they will need to find a way to work together. She reveals that she cannot go home, and that her life is tied to his now; the rebellion would kill her in a heartbeat.
  • When Tucker tells her that he can't trust her, she acknowledges this and tells him that she will earn his trust.
  • He's a little freaked out at the difference in her – the barely hidden rage that was there before Defiant seems to have been replaced by icy control. Though he doesn't want to admit it, this new version of her is ridiculously sexy...
  • EXPAND

T'Pol POV.

  • The COB's assassination attempt occurs. TnT are trapped in the captain's cabin as lethal gases begin pumping into the room. Tucker collapses, and T'Pol realizes that his life is in her hands.
  • Scene should end with her collapsing as well.
  • EXPAND

Reed POV.

  • As Director of Internal Security, he's got huge assets and has been manipulating events.
  • Receives a transmission from Mackenzie that he takes to mean that Tucker is dead.
  • End scene with him ordering the coup to commence.

Mackenzie POV.

  • Believes that his attempt is successful as Soong relates that Tucker is dead.
  • Gleefully sends a transmission to Reed, informing him of this fact. Contacts Hsiao and agrees to support the lieutenant if he assumes command.
  • Unfortunately, he quickly discovers that Soong lied to him as the MACOs and those loyal to Tucker resist his attempt to seize control. Badly wounded, and attempts to get back to a transmitter so he can warn Reed, but Eisler is better than he is. Sees Hsiao get killed (by Devereux!)
  • Captured, passes out, then wakes up strapped to a biobed. Tucker is there, with T'Pol and Eisler. The major informs Tucker that the COB was working for IntSec, and they appear to preparing for a coup. The captain grimly orders Eisler to find out everything he can. Before he can leave, however, T'Pol points out that she can get the information much more quickly than MAJ Eisler. Tucker gives her permission to act.
  • T'Pol looms over Mackenzie and begins to meld with him. Mackenzie screams.

ACT FIVE
Mayweather POV.

  • Ass kicking extraordinare. The "First Prince" is a lethal whirlwind of death and destruction.
  • Background: entered the MACOs after his father kicked him off of Horizon (since Travis was a sociopath, even at an early age.) Discovered that he had a talent for murder.
  • Is quite loyal to Hoshi and has killled a lot of people in her name. They have a rather disfunctional relationship, though, as he enjoys watching more than participating. This suits her predilections for different partners.
  • He is the last defender of the Empress as Reed's coup occurs, and it ultimately too badly injured to continue the fight. Reed shoots him?

Sato POV.

  • Horrified at how badly she's miscalculated, and has no idea how to get out of this situation. Reed is almost demonic in his glee...
  • Until the MACOs begin materializing in the throne room! They are wearing the Endeavour patch, and kick lots and lots of ass.
  • She has a front row seat to an Eisler/Reed fight, with the latter holding his own ... until a mortally wounded Travis Mayweather stabs Reed in the calf with a knife. After that, it's over, and Reed is killed.
  • Tucker and T'Pol show up shortly thereafter, and Sato expects them to unseat her.
  • Tucker informs her that they need to talk...

As to T'Pol being a bit fluffy, perhaps a little. More, I think you might do something that has to do with how she's used him, and maybe you could even play up just how twisted MU TnT are when Tucker starts to think the last time she mind-frakked him she screwed him up so everytime he thinks of sex he can only think of her, or something along those lines.

So I take it Defiant has been turned into an Imperial yacht then? I guess I can see that since Ho-Hoshi probably wouldn't ever leave that ship again if she had a choice. I wonder if she wouldn't have any information about the ship itself classified and have scans of the ship forbidden, so as to explain why it seems to take a good 50 years or more for the Empire to start using the Connie as a mainline ship without too many mods during TOS.

Well, the thing is, I'm looking at what she's gone through and wondering if that wouldn't cause at least a minor shift in her personality (one way or the other). I mean, she's been forcibly addicted to trellium, likely physically abused, and most assuredly psychologically abused in that time.

She's a despot, so seems logical to presume that she wouldn't want to leave it too often.

I was thinking that, or it get destroyed during the coup...

That's a really good point... but wouldn't the computer stuff aboard the old Connie explain how to make them? I guess it could be the manufacturing that could be a problem...

Well, not only that, but just because Sato wouldn't want to risk losing the edge she has. Realistically, the only reason she was successful in her coup was that ship, and the only reason there hasn't been a successful counter-coup is that ship and its technology. Add in the kind of paranoia that has to come with life in the MU, and I guess it just makes sense to me.

I wonder if she might not hate humans just that much more, and be that much more ... weirded out that Tucker is being so kind to her instead of having left her to the wolves.

Rigil, you don't have the least idea of how badly I want to read this. I must read it... I love it. Yeah, T'Pol is a pinch fluffy, but just a pinch; I wouldn´t really change anything and I'm thinking that perhaps the whole MU personality thing (the angry/twisted/aggressive/dunnowhatelse) could be expanded more... The plot is awesome. I must say the TnTer in me wants a positive resolution: I know these two have a twisted relationship, but come on, they're mates after all.

But I love it, man! (Looking forward to more regular Endevour too)

I liked the story.

If the Defiant is there to protect the Empress (circling over her palace or so), wouldn't the conspirators try and either take it out or take over it when they launch their coup?

Do you have any idea what it is Tucker wants to talk to Sato about in the end? Allowing TnT to relocate someplace far off?
