Mysteria, over at HoT, announced that Fedcon is coming to the USA next year, and one of the first confirmed guests is Connor. Another is Chase Masterson (DS9's Leeta), and someone named Marc Lee. I'm not sure who he is, except that his screen name over at HoT is FEDCON... You can get the details at the FedconUSA site... |

I already asked Wenya if she'd be there (haven't heard back from her yet), but, if she is and any of ya'll plan to attend, maybe we should have a WWBJ gathering or something (I'm thinking about trying to go myself, mostly 'cause I've got some friends in Dallas like Wenya in that city) ... |

^ I'm considering going to it, Rigil. It'd be nice to see something besides one small section of Dallas's airport for 2 1/2 hours, which what I saw in June this year... though I think I did vaguely see the city skyline from one of the windows, now that I think about it... Any idea how far Houston is from Dallas? I'm halfway considering taking a trip to Mission Control if I do go to this con... |

I love the city of Dallas (even if I hate the Cowboys. America's team. Feh). Every time I've visited it, I've loved the look of the city (coming from a guy who loves big cities - I'd live on Coruscant if I could). That said, I don't live in Dallas, so I obviously don't know what kind of whacky city insanity they suffer.
250 miles. Houston to Dallas |

Gah... well, that's out. I'm not spending 4 hours in a car (especially in a rented car) each way just to see Mission Control, much as I'd love to see it. It'd be nice to see you and Wenya again. :) |

Say, which airport is closer to Dallas, Dallas/Ft. Worth International or Love Field? It gives me those two options when I checked the prices for flights (though I'm still trying to work out why on earth the cheapest flight has me going to Denver to fly back to Dallas, when I know they have flights from Dayton to Dallas that are nonstop...) |

Now that, I don't know. Dallas is only 2-2.5 miles away, so I never fly in... |

Ah, well... looking at the site again, the hotel is at DFW (the international airport) as opposed to Love Field, which, happily, is also the one with the cheaper flight for me. |

This convention sounds interesting and it would be good to see all you guys and gals again. I'll have to look into my budget and see if I can go. Not sure I'll be able to commit to anything until after our holiday in October though. |

^ It'd be neat if you could come, hoshissis. :) I asked my best friend if she'd be interested in going as well, though I haven't heard back from her yet--I know she wants to go on a trip someplace next year, after she finishes getting her bachelor's degree and before she starts after her master's, though I'm pretty sure that Texas wasn't what she had in mind... but you never know. :) Maybe if the Alamo's close enough, I can use that to convince her to go. She is a history major, after all... :) ETA: Or not. :( Why is everything so far apart in Texas? 4 1/2 hours away to go to San Antonio, 4 hours to Houston... that's about the same amount of time it would take to drive from one end of Ohio in either direction... |

LOL... my best friend is willing to go with me to this con. So I'm buying my tickets next Monday (once I'm sure it's on next month's Visa bill as opposed to this month's). :) |

Okay, someone who has been to a Fedcon before, please tell me: what exactly is a 'graphic exhibition'? Is that supposed to be display your artwork or something like that? I'm just curious because when I went to fill out the info to buy my tickets, it asks if I'm interested in participating in the costume contest, this graphic exhibition thing, a model exhibition, or in purchasing the con DVD... and I'm not sure what they mean by that... Not sure I'm going to do the voucher for the 5 meals at the con, though... $80 seems a bit high to me, especially since I'm already paying $79 for the dinner on Saturday night... ETA: And I'm debating on whether or not to do the costume contest... I mean, I do have a perfectly good Enterprise costume now, and a communicator and phase pistol... but I honestly don't know what I'd do as far as the contest itself... |

The graphic exhibition is the art contest - scetches, drawings, paint, modelling etc. The five meal ticket is not a bad deal. I've generally taken that each time I've been to Fedcon in the past. It means you are able to have your tea Friday night in the convention hotel restaurant, dinner saturday and tea saturday, and dinner Sunday. There is no messing around trying to decide where to eat. You go in during the alloted time, get a table and go and get your meal from a buffet selection (more or less the same as lunch at sea trek this year) You only pay for drinks which tyou can order at the table. The costume contest is more a elaborate dress outfit sort of thing from all over the genre. You can either dress up and parade around or do a play/dance sort of thing. liven it up a bit. They take a vido over the whole weekend. They won't let you do video yourself and even threaten to throw you out if theysee you do it. They are really vigulent about it. You then have the option of buying this DVD video after the convention is over. Hope this helps JK. I've booked my tickets. I've booked for myself, Iain, my dad (who I am treating, since he has never been to America and probably never will) and my mum might be coming also. |

^ I bought my tickets as well. Gold tickets and the celebration dinner on Saturday. My best friend isn't going to buy her tickets for another couple of weeks, though. It's nice of you to treat your dad to a trip to America. :) I did put down that I might be interested in doing the costume contest. Maybe I'll go as a jedi if it doesn't have to be Star Trek-related, then. At least I could do my little bit with my lightsaber if I did decide to do something more. I'd do the graphic thing, except I haven't been much motivated of late to draw. But who know, if I could find a bit of inspiration, then I might try and do something with the crew, though... |

They've added more guests to this con. Now it lists: Connor (of course) Marc B. Lee (that guy who is FEDCON over at HoT) Chase Masterson (Leela from DS9) James Cawley (apparently he plays Kirk in some online fan version of TOS) Menina Fortunato (Maras the Orion slave girl on Enterprise) |

^ It's still nearly 10 months away. There's plenty of time for them to convince her to come... :) After all, when I went to the so-called 'official' Farscape con in Burbank 4 years ago (a Creation con), they didn't sign Claudia Black to come until literally a month before the con... |

They've added another guest for this con. Still no one particularly famous, though. The new guest is Jack Marshall, who is a visual FX coordinator on various series, has worked on Battlestar Galactica, and is an excutive producer/director for Star Trek: New Voyages. |

FEDCON (the guy, not the con itself) over at HoT was hinting that 'after the next major star announcement, the hotel might sell out, so if you snooze, you lose'. Sounds like we need to buy our tickets now (and put our reservations in). He also added that if we have a large enough group (and if those of us who post here and there are added into the mix with the HoT crowd), around 50, then they might be able to cut a deal on the weekend rates... |
