FEDCON, when I asked about it, said to wait til after he gets back from his meeting with the hotel in Dallas (which is two weeks' from now). They're going to try and get the hotel to lower the weekend rate for us a bit more. So I'm waiting for a few more weeks to put in my reservation.

And I loved his bit about the 'next major guest announcement'--I've got three guesses on who they might be trying for that would elicit that kind of response. Though I'm hoping that they get Jolene as well. And he also said that Dom might come too, since he apparently only likes to do conventions when Connor is there... (though he didn't state that Dom would be, just that's what Dom likes to do).

If everything is booked up a year in advanced, I won't even know what job I'll be working, let alone if I can have the days off to go.

It's not booked up yet, CX. And besides, that's the hotel he's talking about. You could always either find a roommate (who has already made a reservation and is willing to share their room) or else stay at a different, nearby hotel and walk over for the convention stuff.

Besides, they haven't made that announcement that he's talking about, and likely won't, at a guess, for a while yet, since he's still trying to get the room rates lowered a smidge more for the con-goers. And apparently their contact guy at the hotel is a huge Trek fan, and is very excited about this con coming there, which FEDCON says really helps...

Well, they did get someone with the initials "J.B." as a guest for the con--but it's not Jolene, alas.

They got John Billingsley, however, and his wife, Bonita Friedericy, as guests. Which is okay by me, I haven't seen him either... hmmm, I'll have to remember to bring that cast photo and have John sign it.

FEDCON has strongly hinted (over at HoT, in the 'Connor at Lightspeed '07' thread) that if you're a fan of TOS, that you might want to get your tickets quick for this convention, though he didn't give any more details than that. He promised more information after DragonCon (which is this weekend).

I'm not sure if he means for this convention in Dallas, or if he means that Lightspeed '07 thing out in California, though. It's gotten kind of confusing in that thread over the past few posts because mctrip apparently is having trouble posting about FedCon in the FedCon thread, so she keeps asking questions of him in that thread instead, though based on FEDCON's comment in the FedCon thread earlier this week, I'd say that it's likely having to do with the Dallas convention. But I guess we'll find out in a few days...

They're saying on the Fedcon BBS that the code for the convention price for the hotel will be available after September 20th.

Just a heads-up, the lovely and talented Ms. Wenya is going to be at this con (given it's in the city she lives in, that's no surprise). Her exact quote was:
Quote:

Oh, I'm totally going if Connor is going.

It's still up in the air if I'll be there - I might be able to swing making a single day appearance, or something, but I'm definitely not going to be there the whole weekend.

Unless Jolene shows up, abandons her husband and declares her undying love for me.

So ... not likely. :cookiemonster:

I wished I could go, but I have no idea what I'm going to be doing at that time. :( If I work for the USDA again, I'm sure I could take it off and get paid for it to boot (annual leave is cool), but any otehr temp job I could find probably wouldn't let me have the time off, and I wouldn't be able to afford the plane tickets or the hotel.

Can't wait to see Wenya again (and pictures of the kid if she doesn't bring him along). Hope you can make it, Rigil.

I wish they'd send out the hotel convention code information already. I'd like to make the reservations for my best friend and I...

Considering the last thing the organizers said about it on their site's BB was from Sept. 30th, and that was to say "oh, they get we're in contact with at the hotel won't be back until Tuesday" (Oct. 2nd) and "we'll let you know soon"... they're not exactly filling me with confidence now that two weeks have passed with still no sign of that promised information.

:lol2:

Ask, and you shall receive...

They've posted the hotel reservation information over at their board this morning (apparently after the last time I had looked, which was this morning shortly after I got online, and now).

Hotel information

Not too shabby a rate, either... $109 a night for a room with 2 people in it, and $119 a night for a room with up to 4 people in it. Considering their normal rates are in the range of about $190-$200, that's a pretty decent convention rate.

I've already booked in the hotel because I wanted a good quiet room for my dad. Fedcon says that he will put me down on his list so I can still claim the discount code and be on their conventions numbers.

I wish they would hurry up as well. I can't see what their problem is in delaying with the code.

Actually, they posted the con rates today, sometime between when I checked this morning and a few minutes ago when I went to check again.

Well I've just spoken to the Hyatt hotel and they have put me on the new reservation price for Fedcon.

I already had the room booked for the special room rate of $119 for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but they have also given me this rate for the Thursday and the Monday as well. I'm also staying on Tuesday but I will have to pay the normal rate for that. I'm not bothered because I've saved $200 for the Thursday and the Monday. :buttrock:

Now I just have to book my flights, but I'll have to save up a bit first for that. Hopefully, I'll be able to book them by the end of January 2008.

Good news, hoshissis, for your trip to Florida this weekend. NASA has said that it will try and launch the space shuttle on Tues. Oct. 23, at 11:38 am EDT (provided, of course, that the weather cooperates). So you might get to see a launch while you're there. :)

I hope you get to see it. :) I've never seen a launch in person myself. The closest I ever got was seeing Atlantis on the launch pad a week before its launch date in April 1998 when we visited Cape Canaveral.
