Ah, ok, I get it... Even if I didn't get why he was seeing a white beard, it was still rather funny. The "And did Gibbs know that she was follicly challenged?" line was hilarious... :guffaw: |

Chapter 38 of Part 2: The Widening Gyre is online. Random references are made to one of the characters in "Legend," but that's all it is - a reference. |

The part I liked the most about this chapter was when Gibbs remembered Tony's face after Kate was shot. For some reason, those lines struck me. And I was surprised that Eli David's orders to Michael were sanctioned, but then again, Rigil is writing this, and not the stupid NCIS writers. Kort again? Why doesn't someone just shoot that guy already? I didn't expect that turn of events regarding David's position, and it does make me wonder what will happen to him in the future of this story. I actually like Ziva's dad in this AU. Also, I'm quite curious as to what will happen with Ziva's position, or Tony's for that matter. Edited by tennisgirl, 6 Nov 2009, 10:00.

I was always struck by the expression on Weatherly's face when Kate was killed; he did such a bang-up job there that I think that "Twilight" was the episode where I really started to like the DiNozzo character. I mean, he'd just come back from the whole y. pestis thing and then he singlehandedly save the lives of both Kate & McGee with that car bomb thing earlier in the episode. But the way he recoiled as the blood splattered across the face ... that's always stuck with me.
Heh. Thanks. My version of Eli isn't stupid enough to operate on American soil without first getting American permission. Israel can ill afford to make an enemy of the United States, after all. Plus, I kind of saw this as him sort of cloaking his desire for vengeance over what has been done to his daughter within the guise of justice.
What? You don't like Trent? :P As to the rest, well... |

Ziva chapters are usually my favorites, and this did not disappoint. Crying Ziva. :worried: Wait... Those were nothing compared to past injuries? :wtf: The small details in this one were great. Ziva taking refuge at the tub; the bed feeling to big; her locking the door... And while her intentions of dealing with Tony's guilt issues are understandable, I don't know if our favorite Mossad ninja is equipped for that. The talk about her family was great, and I still find the way Spy!Dad treats the Tony/Ziva relationship hilarious. I have never pegged Ziva as a traditionalist anyway... heh... The conversation between Michael and Abby was very nice to read. Leave it to Abby to add a moment of levity in all this madness. It took me a moment to figure out what Tony was talking about when he said Institute, but then I remembered what Mossad stands for. I have to admit that I loved how this chapter ended. That was so freaking sweet... And considering that the next chapter is the last one of the second part, I guess there's some sort of Evil!Cliffhanger coming. I'm off to take a deep breath. |

And so we're at the end of the second story, with the team being broken apart again as it was at the end of season 5... except this is far more believable and not quite so out of the blue (or unexplained) as what Vance did to them on the show. Poor Tony and Ziva... bad enough to have gone through what they did, but to know that their teammates know what they went through--all of it--can't be helping them either. Not that it's bad that Tim or Jethro knows (and I'm sure that Ducky, at least, knows since he treated them), at least they can be more understanding about []why[/i] they're acting the way they do and know not to take it personally. But it's going to take a long while for either Tony or Ziva, I think, to be able to get back to the point where Ziva, for example, doesn't flinch whenever some man other than Tony comes near her or try to avoid all contact with them, even when it's someone she knows and trusted before this unfortunate incident took place. And Jethro's taken a huge leap forward in development over the course of these two stories. This Jethro would have done a better job, I think, understanding and dealing with Tony at the beginning of the story than the man he was then... Looking forward to part 3. |

Fine is a four letter word and not much else in this story, isn't it? They are all so freaking broken by this point... I found it interesting that Tim would get the last chapter in this, but he does have quite a unique view on all this, from Tony's and Ziva's situation to his own grudges against Jen. And althoiygh it still hurts to see the team broken, it was done quite nicely. I have no freaking clue where Ziva's new job description will take her, but hey, it doesn't sound like she'll be too far away from Tony. It will be hard not having a constant chapter of Rigil's stories to feast on, but I'll try to live through it. It won't be easy though. |

Well, I found Chapter 1 of Part 3: Slouches Toward Bethlehem posted. (Please, ignore my happy dance...) Leave it to Rigil's DiNozzo to get into something like this on the first day, although I'm sure Ziva will just love it. I couldn't help but to wonder if it was technically correct for him to be doing all that shooting, but then again I know nothing about protocol in these situations. I winced at the mention of his shoulder pain, especially since he was holding that .38. I now the A/N at the beginning explains this and that this is Hollywoodland, but having experienced several shoulder injuries myself and never anything as serious as Tony's, I kept shaking my head at the thought of the pain... Perhaps the nicest touch of this beginning is that it doesn't hit you over the head with what we know has happened or the stuff they have had to deal with and get over from, but it just begins to hint of that and lets you know that while some stuff has been taken care of, there are a lot of consequences affecting their lives. Now I shall wait for the next very sporadic time... |

You didn't add it to your LJ, which is probably why I didn't know you'd added it til I read tennisgirl's post. Glad to see you're starting to post part 3, even if it's going to be awhile between parts. Unless you wrote more chapters during the holidays, that is, than I already knew you had done... Good old Tony, even able to drive bank robbers who've got the drop on him crazy with all his talking, and they don't even realize that he's distracting them at the same time with it. And a quote from Dirty Harry thrown in for good measure when he runs out of bullets (even if you didn't go all the way to the end with it). Loved how pissed off the probie was with Tony at the end. Gee, if his first day back in the field was like this, imagine what the second day might bring, ... |

This was a nice surprise especially on a Monday. Those are rough for me. :oscar: Poor guy can't even withdraw money without getting in trouble. Great action, could picture the entire scene very clearly. So, Ziva is into handcuffs in the bedroom. Do you think she really is or is that just wishful thinking on your part? ;) And loved the Dirty Harry quote :) I look forward to seeing Ziva's POV and how her character is doing. |

Chapter 2 of Part 3 is now online. There is a very important Author's Note attached to it, which probably won't surprise any of you given my general disposition toward NCIS these days. |

^ I'm sorry to hear that you likely won't be finishing the story (especially since I know you had an outline for the rest for this story that I would've loved to have read), but I understand... At least you gave them a sort of happy ending, even if there's still some loose ends. |

Yeah... I definitely can't blame Rigil for doing this; there are few things worse than forcing oneself to finish something while unmotivated. I am very grateful that this episode was posted, because if there is to be no other ending, I can live with this. I too would have loved to see what was in store--peek at that outline--, but it is what it is, and the 92 chapters were an excellent ride. Outstanding writing, through and through, and my favorite piece of NCIS fic out there... Cheers, Rigil. |

I would have loved to have seen the ending that you really wanted to give to this story. However, like JK and tennisgirl posted, I also completely understand. Thanks so much for such a great story. |
