So how goes the writing of the first part of the trilogy, Rigil? I know you said you were trying to get as much of it done as possible before you started back to school next week...

TFN, is that TheForce.net?

I wonder what nom de cyber I'd pick if I were to join. Calling myself "Kevin Thomas Riley" would out me as a Trek fan, and that might not sit to well with the Warsies. And Palpatine is undoubtedly taken already.

Not that I would join anyway...

Yes it is. Could be worse, KTR. Imagine if I tried to sign up using my usual username over there... I have little doubt that it (and the variants I'd use) have long since been taken...

Apart from the fanfiction section, I don't wander around those boards very much. The Literature boards are, in my admittedly limited experience, unbelievably vitriolic and, since I have absolutely nothing positive to say about the literature published after Tim Zahn's Thrawn trilogy or Mike Stackpole & Aaron Allston's X-Wing books, it would be kind of silly for me to even bother posting in those. Even my appreciation for the Republic Commando series of books has been severely lessened by the fact that the author of those books was the person who originally proposed (and then wrote it) killing off Mara Jade Skywalker for reasons that, frankly, defy comprehension. As it stands right now, the modern books don't feel like Star Wars to me, but instead seem to be tragedy for the sake of tragedy.

Thus, I've washed my hands of them a long time ago. And, based on some of my interactions with other SWars fans, I'm not the only one.

I doubt you'd have anything to worry about KTR. It's not like it's StarDestroyer.Net. ;)

Stardestroyer.net, that's the place where I found that article on Trek communism.

They are very, very, horribly anti-Trek there, so that wouldn't surprise me. The BBS makes TrekBBS seem tame by comparison.

^ Yeah, I have noticed. But I still find that Trek communism (at least in the post-TOS era) article interesting, and they make a lot of good points.

Chapter 1 of Tyranny Reborn is now online. Since school is resuming next week, I probably won't get more than chapter 3 or 4 up before I have to go into "Student" mode...

:) Still love the beginning, it puts the reader very much in media res.

I don't think you have to worry about keeping your readers hooked, even when you're at school and can't work as much on it. Though some might be spoiled since you had Sideral up so quickly into thinking that you'll have this one posted just as fast...

And you're welcome. Glad I could help. :)

Some of the initial responses over at TFN are kinda amusing given that I don't have the same reputation there that I have among the TnT community yet. The "opening with a BANG!" like I did surprised a couple of people, I think.

:lol2: They'll probably catch on pretty quick, though... once the story gets into full swing.

Neat. Where'd you find a link to a site that lets you make those?

I actually meant how did you hear about the site, not where was it located... ;) Was it something you just happened to find while searching around, or did someone point you to it?

You know, the one thing I never quite understood, in relation to the beginning crawl for these movies, is why 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...' is in one type of font and is blue text, but the actual crawl itself has its text color as yellow... could he not decide which he liked or something? I've always thought that was kind of odd.

Ah. My bad.

My roommate, Dan, found it and pointed me to it. I suspect he just didn't want to create the crawl in Flash as I asked him to. The slacker...

No problem. I was amused by their little crawl advertising the site and how it came to be...

Say, Rigil, are you planning to add your Star Wars fics to your site? You could always make a page and label it 'other fanfiction' or 'Star Wars fanfiction' or something like that... and put the crawl at the top of the current story. :)
