Moderate you, I will...

I was thinking that we could maybe do an Enterprise round robin story in a thread here.

No one would have to write an entire chapter by themselves, instead it would be more like write the next sentence in the story. It might be amusing, at any rate... especially if two people happen to post at about the same time. It's just an idea, and I'm just curious if anyone would want to try it.

Or we could do a role playing story of sorts, with each person playing one of the crew if you'd rather try that...

That's a neat idea. How's this for a start:

Möbius Strip

Trip scratched his head as he surveyed the derelict's charred outer hull. "I have no idea what the hell it is Captain," he said with a frustrated grunt. "The torches won't even get the outer layer warm... There's no way we can cut through it."

Archer turned to his science officer. "T'Pol, have you been able to find out anything with sensors?"

(I apologize for the delay in answering, I had to make part of dinner because my mom is having back spasms.)

"The sensors are having difficulty pentrating the outer layer, Captain," T'Pol answered, as she worked the scanner in her hand. "It is reflecting the sensor signal."

Meanwhile Phlox came to a stop in the middle of sickbay and bent over trying to catch his breath. Capturing his Pyrithian bat when she was unwilling to return to her cage often was a difficult ordeal. Something had really spooked her and she whizzed around sickbay shrieking, unwilling to return to her cage even when he attempted to bribe her with a ripe Toolinberry.

She never refused a Toolinberry before.

Just as Phlox prepared for a fourth mad dash, he heard the sickbay doors open and turned to see Ensign Sato stroll in holding her left hand and frowning. Things were looking up for the Doctor. The Ensign frequently was able to coax the recalcritant bat into her cage where Phlox's efforts had failed.

"What can I do for you Ensign?" Phlox said with his warmest greeting.

"It's my hand, Doctor. I touched the hull of that derelict that Commander Tucker has been trying to get into, and now I can't feel my fingers at all. It's like my whole hand has gone numb." She ducked as Phlox's bat swooped past her head. "How did your bat get loose this time?"

"Oh no!" Phlox screamed as the bat rushed past the comm officer and out into the corridor outside Sickbay.

"Doctor, my hand!" Hoshi reminded him just as he was about to run after the bat.

"Right, sorry." He paused. "Let's have a look at it."

Meanwhile, Phlox's bat was flying through the cooridors of Enterprise, as crewmen dodged this way and that to avoid being hit by the frightened creature.

Malcolm stepped off the turbolift, heading to the mess hall, when suddenly the bat swooped past him, smacking him in the eye with one of its wings in its mad dash to freedom.

Trip stood up to stretch his aching back. He closed his eyes in order to will away the throbbing in his temples. Today was turning out to be one shitty day.

He had just twisted to his right, hearing several joints along his spine pop, when he spotted the most ridiculous sight he'd seen in some time. Now was clearly not the time for one of Travis' pranks! Trip was in too bad of a mood. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Ensign?" He said with as menacing of a glare as he could muster.

Travis just returned an innocent grin and replied, "so far the sensors have not accomplished anything."

Trip gave out a disgusted laugh. "So you think poking the damn thing with a stick is going to accomplish something?"

Travis just shrugged.

"Besides, where in the hell did you get a stick?" Trip asked as his mood lightened... just a bit. It was normally pretty hard to stay mad at Travis.

"I don't remember," Travis said quietly.

Trip watched as Travis turned and exited the hangar bay. He chuckled a little when he realized Travis accomplished his intention which was to make him a little less grumpy today. That only made Trip feel all the more guilty for snapping at him during breakfast.

"I fail to understand why this has upset you so," T'Pol said softly once the hatch closed behind Travis.

Trip scowled and returned his attention to the giant piece of space junk that refused to reveal its secrets. "I'm sure you don't," Trip replied in a voice dripping with sarcasm.

He could feel T'Pol's glare burning into his back and he rose to face her. He just stood glaring at her with his hands on his hips.

"I believe you are letting your emotions affect your work," she accused.

"My work is affecting my emotions! This piece of junk won't let us form a Warp field."

"Are you certain that is the only thing troubling you?" T'Pol replied with a voice that marginally broke mid-sentence.

"What do you mean by that?" Trip replied a bit louder than he meant to. But he had a pretty good idea she'd already guessed what put him in a bad mood before they even encountered the derelict floating through space.

Before T'Pol could answer, Archer reentered the hanger bay. "Any progress?"

The two commanders exchanged a brief look. "No, sir," Trip answered. "I'm feeling as though I'm using stone knives and bearskins on this derelict. There's got to be a way inside, but I'll be damned if I know what it is."

"You know that the Klingons were awfully interested in this ship. I'd kind of like to know why." Archer wandered closer to the derelict.

"We shall do our best, Captain, to discover that. However, as Commander Tucker has been attempting to unlock its secrets for 8.3 hours without a break, might I suggest that he go and get something to eat first?" T'Pol replied.

"You've been here just as long as I have." Her eyebrow quirked up. "And don't give me that Vulcans can last longer without food than humans line. You could use a break too."

"What in the hell is that smell?" Malcolm heard Joclyn bark as she sat down before him.

"That," Malcolm said with a hint of childlike anticipation, "is the best sandwich known to man." His mouth was already watering and he hadn't even taken a bite.

"What is it?" She asked as he pulled the delicacy to his mouth for a well deserved taste.

He ignored her question for the time being so as to fully savor the marvelous flavors swirling around his mouth. She probably thought him a cad for closing his eyes and ignoring her. He didn't care. This was too good to pass up. "That is a liver sausage sandwich," he finally answered.

"Ugh," she replied with a groan. "What's in it?"

"Liver sausage, bread and butter pickles and stone ground mustard on rye," he said before taking another bite. He chose to ignore the disgusted expression on her face.

Joclyn seriously reconsidered sharing a meal with the armory officer. She'd known for years the Brits had awful taste in food, but the Lieutenant's sandwich smelled barely edible. There was no way it could actually taste as good as Malcolm made it out to be.

Still her curiosity overruled her nasal passages. "So, have you figured out why we're still here?" she asked with a snort.

Malcolm's face suddenly turned contemplative. "I am not certain... I have reviewed the sensor logs and I cannot understand why the Klingons did not fire once they targetted us."

"Do you think it's because of that... thing?" Joclyn asked enigmatically.

"It's possible... Whatever is preventing us from forming a stable Warp field might have also prevented them from firing their disruptors."

"I'm glad you remembered where Soong told us to target... One torpedo and that Bird of Prey was history."

She just frowned when Malcolm gave no response and resumed eating his sandwich. There were times she thought he was more Vulcan than T'Pol.

T'Pol glared at her Human before catching her train of thought. There it is again, she pondered. When did I start thinking of Trip as my Human?

She took a steadying breath. Although no day was a good day to encounter something that prevented the ship from forming a stable Warp field, today was likely worse than most. Trip was already in a bad mood after this morning.

Perhaps we should take our meals in his quarters so we can discuss this in private? She expected at a minimum a very animated response from the Commander, assuming he controlled himself enough to refrain from yelling. The mess hall would be a completely inappropriate setting for that discussion.

No, going to either of our quarters to be in private would not help matters. Recently her more primitive urges had become difficult to control when they were alone in private. Given their current level of agitation, she would struggle against the urge to strip off her uniform. She wondered if all Vulcan females had the urge to be completely unclothed in private with their ashayem, or only those, such as herself, who could no longer completely control their more primitive urges.

Regardless, returning to either of their quarters would likely lead to her wearning little to nothing in short order. Of course, that, would not lead to the discussion they needed to have.

"I'm going to get you with my bionic hand!" Hoshi said to Travis before laughing maniacally. Her exaggerated laughter only caused him to laugh that much harder in response. Once he leaned completely out of her reach, Hoshi swiped the remaining hot dog from his plate and took a quick bite.

Travis was happy to see Hoshi laugh again. The past few days were so stressful for everyone--doubly so for her losing her left hand. Hopefully she was coming to terms with her situation and returning to her old self again.

"Be careful, Engisn," Phlox admonished Hoshi. "You've been applying too much pressure... Also, it's not bionic, it's Bio-Teknic."

Travis just chuckled. Hoshi followed suit. He guessed Phlox didn't really know much about really bad pre-war TV shows.

"So how's the Commander?" he asked just before Hoshi broke the hot dog in half and returned part to his plate. "Thanks," he said quietly with a grin while waiting for Phlox to answer.

"He'll be fine... just dehydrated and slightly malnourished... nothing that can't be fixed in a couple days."

"That's good," Travis replied. Commander Tucker had been in so many close scrapes Travis just assumed that eventually one day his number would be up. Fortunately, yesterday was not that day and they were able to rescue him.

"In fact," Phlox said with a laugh, "Commander T'Pol relieved him of duty shortly after I examined him."

"Isn't that kind of self-serving?" Hoshi asked and Travis saw she fought back a grin.

"I imagine you could say so," Phlox replied with a wide smile. Travis was certain Phlox understood Hoshi's meaning. "Of course... as Captain Archer had relieved her of duty after Mr. Tucker's rescue, her order carried no effect."

Travis thought about that. He wondered if the Commander even slept while they searched for Trip. Travis spent every waking hour at the helm and all during that time she was either at her station or in the command center. She even took command of the bridge when Captain Archer paced himself into exhaustion.

"So did he immediately head to engineering then?" Travis asked with a chuckle.

"No," Phlox replied shaking his head. "I agreed with her assessment... Commander Tucker is to report back to me in 48 hours for a follow up and then I will decide what to do from there. In the mean time, he is restricted from the bridge, engineering and the armory."

Travis just took another bite of his hot dog. He wished Starfleet allowed chef to use real Kosher hot dogs instead of... whatever... these things were. Sure, these were actually healthy for you... but their taste was... just wrong. No one was going to die from eating a real hot dog once in a while.

T'Pol pressed her face deeper into the junction of Trip's neck and shoulder. She deeply inhaled his scent that had been made all the stronger as a result of their previous exertions. Her body remained on top of his and irrationally she clung to him as if to make sure she did not lose him again.

She shuddered as he trailed his fingertips up and down her spine. Their link was stronger so soon after the meld was broken and the gesture was pleasurable beyond the simple physical contact.

She felt him exhale quickly.

"I'm still mad, you know," he said with a hint of teasing.

"You have an odd way of demonstrating that," she said, practicing her verbal sparring skills. "Was it the three times we had intercourse or the time you expertly applied the Guv'svin-Henek posture?"

She felt his body quake as he laughed.

"Because", she continued, "I should inform you that none were effective at revealing your displeasure... Especially your master of the Guv'svin-Henek posture." She'd never revealed that to him before. One time he accidentally applied it for just a short time and her reaction to just that brief touch made her hesitant to have him intentionally perform the posture. When he perfectly applied the posture as they waited for him... to be ready... for a third time, she realized just what a mistake denying him that knowledge had been.

She would not repeat that mistake.

"I hoped you'd like that," he said, again with a hint of teasing.

"Obviously," she replied as sarcastically as possible. "How... where... did you learn that?"

Again she felt him chuckle. "I'm not sure if you remember, but I accidentally applied the posture once in the Expanse... When you gave that little squeek, I thought I'd hurt you... I didn't find out until we got back that wasn't the case at all."

T'Pol felt her body flush. At the time, she'd tried to hide her reaction but that was impossible as he pressed harder. He'd been two vertebrae down from where he should have been applying pressure. She tried to tell him calmly that he had missed his intended target, but all she could do was cut off a quick moan that came out more as a squeek.

It was fortunate her reaction startled him into withdrawing his hands and reapplying them properly. Had he continued, she most likely would not have been able to control herself and ended up humiliating herself nearly two weeks earlier than the eventual result. She could not have rationalized away her behavior as easily.

She moved her head until the left side of her face rested against his chest. His very slow, steady heartbeat still fascinated her. Unlike a Vulcan's, she could make out every beat of his heart. It was odd how such an infrequent beat could actually pump blood throughout his body.

"I am going to continue wearing a standard issue uniform... It is only appropriate," she said quietly.

He didn't respond for a few long moments. "How about a compromise?" he asked.

"Such as?"

"You could wear the jumpsuits when you're off duty?" he offered.

"I could," she answered. That was a reasonable request.

They lay there quietly and twice she moved her face along his chest. Even now, she was not quite sure what to think of his body hair.

"You know," he finally said, "you could wear your old jumpsuit tomorrow... You know... the gray one you brought from Vulcan."

She struggled against a tiny grin. She'd never known just how much he... appreciated... her in that uniform until recently. It did not bother her in the least that the reason was how it accentuated her breasts. It did bother her at the time that when she caught him staring at her, she did not take offense as she should have, or did, when she caught others doing the same thing.

"I could," she eventually answered. "However, I plan on wearing what I am have on now for most of tomorrow." She had planned on wearing her robe to meditate though. Doing that in the nude would be a challenge if he was near.

She felt him laugh. "I'm not sure you can pull that off outside here."

"You will find that I stocked your food storage unit with items proscribed by Phlox for your recovery... We will not need to leave here until evening." She felt him take a deep breath and release it slowly. She had assembled the items and brought them to his quarters as Phlox was completing his exam.

"Hmmm, okay," she heard him purr in his throat.

She moved her head so as to again press her face into his shoulder. He smells good. She had nearly lost him four days ago. Through perserverance she had been able to find him for the rescue.

He rolled to his side and pulled her tightly against him. She knew he was tired and decided to let him sleep now.

She wondered if he yet guessed how arduous tomorrow would be for him.

As she felt him drift off to sleep she doubted he would object.

:deadhorse: Since Möbius Strip tanked, let's try another. :thud: :thud:

Wild Blue Yonder

Trip sat at his desk trying to focus on the reports in front of him. That wasn't the easiest thing to do with T'Pol kneeling less than two meters away. She looked so beautiful and serene as she meditated, it was difficult not to stare. Her satin robe clung to her body in all the right places and the candle softly lit her face.

However, if he let his mind wander as he gazed upon her, he'd soon find himself together with her in that odd white space in her mind. She couldn't effectively meditate when that happened.

So he had to keep his mind busy with other topics while she performed this necessary function.

He sighed. The reports and ideas weren't a whole lot of help to him. Now that Enterprise's mission had fundamentally changed, he was looking for another recreational activity to help the crew pass the time. Going forward, the meager exercise facilities and movie night would prove inadequate.

Trip pressed his lips firmly together trying to stifle a laugh. Phlox's suggestion was for Starfleet to modify regulations and no longer frown upon casual sexual relations between officers. He even listed the positive health benefits of frequent, consensual intercourse in Humans. Trip briefly looked upon T'Pol outside the corner of his eye. He knew the merit in Phlox's idea from personal experience, but doubted Starfleet Command would see it that way.

They had enough of their own problems to worry about--they probably weren't too concerned about keeping their starship crews occupied when off duty. Terra Prime was just one of the growing number of isolationist groups back home. Others were better organized, and therefore stronger politically, and could apply more pressure on the civilian heads of Starfleet.

As a result, Enterprise and Columbia were repurposed. Two months after being recalled home, Enterprise was ready to relaunch.

"Come on boy," Jon said as he looked back at Porthos. Jon laughed as Porthos responded with a bark and came running to catch up along side.

Today was the first really good day in quite some time. It'd been tough listening to the "repurposing of the NX starships" that sounded much more like "gutting the NX program". Erika was just as angry about the turn of events as he was.

He didn't care if it was a Monday and he was scheduled for some useless meetings. It was also Valentine's Day so he and Erika said screw it and had a picnic. The three of them had a blast spending the afternoon together in the isolated park.

In fact, he was in such a good mood still, he didn't regret having to step onto the bridge and working the night shift in return for playing hooky all afternoon.

Just after beaming up and stepping off the pad, an unrecognized crewman saluted him, before himself stepping onto the pad and whisked away to whereever.

"Welcome back!" Trip said with a grin after making sure the transporter was properly secured. "I've got the finals on tape... I'm heading to watch them now with Malcolm."

Jon chuckled and shook his head. "No, go on without me... I'm heading up to the bridge."

"Aaaahhhh... okay," Trip replied a little sheepishly before looking at his feet.

Jon tilted his head to the side and wondered what was going on. "Something I should know about?"

Trip just shook his head and Jon could tell he was fighting back a huge grin.

That settles it, I need to get to the bridge. "Later Trip."

Just as he stepped onto the bridge, Jon stopped dead in his tracks. While he was out, someone had turned his bridge into a giant floral display! There were flowers everywhere!

Well... not everywhere... They were all around the science station and even encroached on Hoshi's communication station. There were even more around the rear command station.

All of them were the same but they were a flower he'd never seen before.

Apparently Travis must have thought his reaction was entertaining because Jon could tell he was struggling mightily to keep from laughing.

"Is something amusing, Ensign?" he heard T'Pol ask as she stood and her head popped above a wall of flowers.

"Captain, I can explain," T'Pol started before Jon interrupted her with a hand gesture. He had a pretty good idea who was responsible for this and it surely wasn't his First Officer.

"They're from a secret admirer," Hoshi said sarcastically as she too rose and her head popped up.

"The cards were unsigned," T'Pol clarified. Obviously Trip didn't see the point in signing.

Jon just chuckled before sitting down at the command chair to read some reports. After seeing that nothing of import happened which he was on Earth and Enterprise stood still in spacedock, he stood up and walked over to the main concentration of flowers.

It was really odd, but his bridge had almost no smell. He'd just assumed with all the flowers around, the smell would be overpowering. Even as he leaned into them and took a deep breath, they had almost no smell.

"They're Hartlage Wine, Captain," Hoshi answered his unspoken question. "They're T'Pol's favorite," she added with an evil grin.

Jon almost burst out laughing at the glare T'Pol shot at his communications officer.

"They are one of the few flowers that Vulcans can appreciate," T'Pol said as if trying to justify her preference.

The smell! Jon nodded. Obviously a flower with almost no smell would ideal.

"Although the quantity is... unseemly," T'Pol replied but surveyed the flowers with an enigmatic look that did not appear at all annoyed. Generally annoyance with Trip was not an emotion that she kept all that well hidden.

"Well," Jon said softly, "just make sure they're all off the bridge by tomorrow morning."

"Of course," T'Pol replied before Jon exited to his ready room.

Hoshi stared up at the ceiling wishing she could "call in sick".

Unfortunately, with a doctor on call, that option simply wasn't available to her.

She didn't think she could stand the embarrassment of being at her station and attending to her duties today--especially knowing T'Pol was a scant two meters away.

She had no idea what had come over her last night. Even now, Hoshi was certain her face was glowing a bright pink. It was most likely irrational, but Hoshi was certain this was all T'Pol's fault.

At least that's what she kept telling herself.

Hoshi had never really "picked a team", as her cousin used to say, and enjoyed the "company" of both men and women equally before her time aboard Enterprise. Before their mission to the Expanse, though, she had been leaning toward thinking about settling down and having children. The detailed letters, pictures and videos her cousin had sent about her newborn son made Hoshi's biological clock impossible to ignore.

All that changed with her "ordeals" in the Expanse. While neither her "violation" nor her "torture" were committed by Human hands, in both cases the aliens were male. Phlox worked hard to get her past the emotional scars, but so far he had succeeded only in helping her to be truly comfortable around him. She always felt her body involuntarily tense when any other man got near. One time Commander Tucker eased her tension, but that was special and involved a scavenging expedition where his actions reminded her that being alone with a man was not something to be feared.

Still she felt far more comfortable around women and naturally gravitated toward T'Pol as kind of a shield. Only Tr... Command Tucker and Captain Archer approached T'Pol.

It was an effective shield... at least until the mind-meld with T'Pol.

After that... experience... Commander Tucker was a focal point of some of her most vivid dreams--erotic deams in a couple instances. Hoshi now believed that somehow as a result of that mind-meld with T'Pol, T'Pol had projected her... emotions... onto Hoshi. It had been sometime since she thought of the Commander in "that way" and even then, she'd never dreamed about him with such clarity.

Eventually the dreams had faded, but were replaced by an odd fascination with T'Pol. Hoshi caught herself marveling at T'Pol's angular face... her strangely attractive pointed ears... even her toned abs if they happened to workout together.

Hoshi dismissed it all as a schoolgirl crush on someone she felt safe around. There was no reason for her to fear T'Pol... or even to believe a "relationship" was possible. There was no mention anywhere of "Gay Vulcans" and it was clear to anyone even remotely paying attention, T'Pol had eyes only for Commander Tucker. You don't take a man light years away to see your home just because you're "colleagues".

Even after all these months, T'Pol was still vague about her feelings toward the Commander and their conversation yesterday about Valentine's Day customs was surreal. Hoshi smiled as she wondered what jewelry Commander Tucker bought T'Pol since she was interested in the "level of committment" each type expressed.

Hoshi was certain that conversation, as well as the past mind-meld, led to the humiliating experience last night. She'd been feeling down prior to Valentine's Day and hadn't had any "relief" in some time. But she was feeling much happier yesterday and by last night, the itch needed scratched.

That's when all hell broke loose.

She'd let her mind head where it wanted when forming a fantasy. This time, like one or two times before, it involved T'Pol. Unlike those times, it also involved... Trip. She felt her heartbeat increase as she recalled the gist of the fantasy. Within moments both of them had pinned her down and were ravishing her body. It was the most... intense... and... satisfying... experience she'd had in some time.

Hoshi tried to convince herself that it was due to the "lack of relief" she'd had prior, but had mostly failed.

She quickly pulled the blanket over her head and willed herself to have some ailment that would save her the embarrassment of being at her post on the bridge. So far it wasn't working.

Today is going to be awful.
