Well, Brandon Sanderson says that the next book is still scheduled to be released in November, and has apparently stated on his Twitter page that the deadline to turn in the completed manuscript for Towers of Midnight to Tor is 15 August. So hopefully he manages to get the other 15% or so of the story written and finishes whatever editing they're going to do between now and then... |

Here's a link to Dragonmount's story on the newest ebook cover for the series. Personally, while I know what the image is really about, I can't help but think of the classic image from MacBeth, with the three witches around the cauldron... but then, that fits here, too, since a lot of the common folk refer to the Aes Sedai as 'Tar Valon witches'... ETA: And I just noticed something odd. On Dragonmount's site (underneath the cover I posted above), they have a listing of the various books in the series and when they're due to be released as ebooks. That listing states that New Spring comes out on 28 Sept, while The Gathering Storm is to be released on 2 Nov. But I pre-ordered New Spring last night (though not the other, because I refuse to pay $12.99 for a book that's going to drop in price a very short time after its release, since the paperback will come out about that time), and the release date on Amazon for NS was 2 Nov and for TGS was 28 Sept. So now I'm wondering when exactly those two books are going to be out... It makes more sense to me if they release TGS first, since it would complete the main storyline (at least to this point, while setting it up for those who are eagerly awaiting the 13th book which is supposed to be out in November), while NS is the "prequel" and isn't absolutely essential to the storyline, it just gives you a look into what was going on some 20 years or so prior to the events in the main story. Release Date for Towers of Midnight They also have the description of the book's plot from the dust jacket in the story... It mostly concerns Mat (as presumed) and also Perrin. |

Cool, Amazon's got the pre-order listing for Towers of Midnight up. I'll probably still get it in hardback, just because I've got all the rest of the books in the series as actual books. Seems kind of silly to quit buying them that way two books before the end... ETA: And now the pre-order for Towers of Midnight for the Kindle is up too. :) Though it's going to be another one that I wait awhile before buying for my Kindle, since, like The Gathering Storm, I see no reason to pay hardback prices for a book that is going to go down when the paperback comes out. Besides, I already pre-ordered the hardback for $16.19 (plus s/h), so why would I pay $14.99 for the Kindle edition and end up paying more for both than what I would have if I'd gone to my local store after taxes for the hardcover? Well, I don't know how accurate it is, but Brandon Sanderson's little progress meter on his website indicates that he's finished writing Towers of Midnight, and has since started to revise it. Hopefully the revisions go quickly... :D |

Well, there's still another book (A Memory of Light) to come after ToM. So you can always have a reading marathon at some point and get caught up prior to its release (which, hopefully, will be in November 2011), or wait til it comes out and then read all of them at once... |

He's jumped up the little bar for the revisions on ToM from 1% to 35% sometime in the past two days. So maybe we will get to see the book on 2 November of this year (I was beginning to wonder after it hadn't moved at all over the past two weeks, especially with Brandon scheduled to go a book signing tour for his own series next month). |

Well, it's about time: Brandon Sanderson now lists on his site (look at the upper left) that he's up to the final draft for Towers of Midnight. He's kind of pushing it, since the book is supposed to be out 2 November, but hopefully there's not a lot of polishing to do so they can meet that deadline... |

Well, Brandon's apparently 25% of the way through the final draft of Towers of Midnight, at least according to his website. And here's a link to the ebook cover for Knife of Dreams. Other than the fact that it's not Mat and Tuon (boo hiss, I wanted to see the two of them together), it's not bad, considering it's Rand, Min and Semirhage... |

Hooray! He's finished the final draft of Towers of Midnight! :D Can't wait til 2 Nov so I can read my copy of the book, and find out if Mat's successful in returning Moiraine from the land of the snakes and foxes... and then it's off to Tarmon Gai'don for the final book next year. |

Cool... Tor books has put out a short video advertising the next book, Towers of Midnight. It does contain a spoiler (though if you've read the books, or if you've seen the cover for ToM, then you shouldn't be surprised by what's in the video), since it concerns a character not seen since the end of book 5, who is reciting the words of a letter written way back when over the video... Towers of Midnight preview trailer And for those interested in seeing the ebook cover for the twelfth book: Ebook cover art for The Gathering Storm Dragonmount's article still has the date wrong, however. Amazon has had it listed as a 28 September release ever since the book was first added to the site for pre-order way back in May (and considering the publishers--including Tor--had taken over the pricing for the books then, I'm pretty sure that Tor would have given Amazon the accurate date of release. Also, since Dragonmount claims that New Spring is actually the book that's supposed to come out on 28 Sept, and they've only been unveiling the ebook cover art for the next book to be released, they should've released New Spring's artwork before TGS if it was actually next book to come out.)
