Check this out! The Dark Knight trailer. I cannot wait for this movie. They made me a believer with how unbelievably kick ass Batman Begins was and this looks to be on par with it. I really like this interpretation of the Joker also ... I caught a 6 minute scene from the movie on YouTube (of really, really crappy quality) and Joker looks fantastic. Thoughts? |

^ I didn't see Batman Begins either. Mostly because I'm kind of tired of superhero movies at the moment... Though the clip for this movie does look interesting, enough that I may go see it when it comes out, and I do like the new Joker... reminds me of Nicholson's version, though a bit darker if that's possible. |

I actually have it. I got it a while ago from a discount bin at the supermarket. I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I happen to have a lot of DVDs that I haven't watched yet. And like Katie I'm a bit superhero-ed out at the moment. To be frank I've never been that into the different superheroes. |

Well, you missed out on one of the best "superhero" movies ever. I think it's so good 'cause its grounded in a more realistic world and not the silly neon-ness of recent Bat movies. Plus, it's a complete reboot of the franchise since Schumacher screwed it up with Clooney as Wayne. Honestly, my only complaint in Begins revolves around Katie Holmes whom I don't really like ... And please dear Lord, don't remind me of the atrocity that was Nicholson as Joker. :puke: |

^ Well, I could remind you of Danny Devito's Penguin, then, but he's not in the movie... Anyway, it just reminded me of the Joker from that movie, but I do think this version is much darker (at least based on this clip) than that one was... Won't argue you with on Clooney as Batman. But I also didn't much care for Val Kilmer's version of him either... |

Hands down, yeah. One of the things that they're wanting to play with (based on the creative team's comments) is that Gotham is not better off since the crazy billionaire started running around in a batsuit but is actually worse off. That actually tracks with my personal view of the Bat and how the crazies are drawn toward him... Again, if you get the opportunity, I do suggest you give Begins a try. I think you'll like it. It's a much more ... intelligent movie than most superhero flicks... |

Well, say what you will about the movie with DeVito's Penguin, but it had one thing going for it... Michelle Pfeiffer in a latex catsuit! |

And an absolutely indecipherable script that flat out stunk. But speaking of Catwoman, I would kill people to see her in the Begins universe ... mayhap with a certain woman named Jolene playing Selina... |

Generally in comic canon, Catwoman isn't a killer (which is another reason why that movie stunk) and is just a thief. An exceptional thief, but still just a thief. She skirts the edge between good and bad, hence the interest by the Bat. I'd much rather they follow that definition than the crappy one they used in Batman (in name only) Returns. |

I plan on going to see the movie, and my only real disappointment so far about it is that I have to wait so long for it. I was initially worried about the fact that Ledger was playing the Joker, but after seeing what I have of him so far, all of those concerns have been laid to rest. Not only does he look creepy, but the bits of acting in the trailer really bring it home. Still, they could make it better by having Mark Hammel do the voice. :rasberry: I agree that it'd be nice to see Jolene Blalock play Catwoman in the new Batman movies, but he agent sucks enough to ensure that will never happen. :oscar: I kind of disagree about her not being a killer though. I can kind of see the point about her only being a thief, but in some ways I like the idea of her sharing some of the same values as Batman, except that she wants to use lethal force whereas he emphasizes using non-lethal force for the most part. I think it would make for pretty good drama if he kind of had a thing for her, and thought that maybe he could redeem her only to be disappointed in the end. I am curious to know what you didn't like about Katie Holmes though, Rigil |

Well, then you're going against the source material in which she is generally not a killer.
That totally conflicts with the character though. She's not a vigilante like the Bat. She's simply a thief.
I can't stand her as an actress. She's got this really weird facial tic that always distracts me. Plus, I thought the character she was portraying was unnecessary and fell into the traditional "love interest who learns His secret" tripe that they always seem to pull in super hero movies. |

What would make Catwoman any different from any other crook Batman fights then if she's just a thief? Other than being female, of course. |

She dresses up like a cat and is exceptionally good at what she does. Further, she has a moral code (doesn't kill) which, based on what we've seen of the Bat's Rogue's Gallery, is not shared by most villains. If you look at the Bat's opposition, it generally boils down to one of two types: normal gangster-types and absolutely insane theme villains (Joker, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, the Scarecrow, Penguin, etc.) Catwoman falls into the latter category without being insane. |

The trailer looks great. I wasn't to sure about Ledger myself, but it looks like he does a great job from the previews. I loved Batman Begins. It was a lot darker, (which was mentioned already) and more of a drama. Whereas, the other Batman movies were more campy, I think is the word I want. A friend of mine who used to read the comic book, he felt that Batman Begins was actually more like the comic. Because if Batman was holding you off the side of the building and he didn't like the answers you gave him he'd drop you. :eviltbbs: |
