Yeah, when we went to see Hancock a couple of weeks ago, there was this couple with their infant in a stroller who went to see it. Now that wasn't a particularly dark movie, but the thought went through my mind of why on earth would you take a baby to a movie?

Unless of course Two-Face really is dead, in which case my main villain would be a version of the Riddler who would be more like the Zodiac killer than the joke that was Jim Carey's portrayal.
I'd go with the Riddler myself since, after having watched TDK again tonight (yeah, I know I should have been studying but I was tired of reading about WWII and the Holocaust) I'm actually okay with Two-Face dying. Why? Because simply, there's no way he could survive very long with those kind of injuries anyway. The exposed tissues would quickly become infected and the like and he'd die in horrible, excruciating pain (though based on the line from Gordon, he's already crazy in pain).

That's an interesting approach to the Riddler, though I'm not sure I'd take that route myself. I think I'd be more likely to have him be a Hans Gruber type of character who is totally focused on acquiring boatloads of money while proving just how unbelievably brilliant he is (hence, the riddles). As with TDK, I'd keep the "crime drama with a masked vigilante" feel and try to actually avoid the usual wildly over-the-top elements. The confrontation between him & Batman would be a chess match, with Bats cutting a swath through the idiot thugs put in his way by the Riddler.

I can actually see a tolerable way to work in the Penguin (i.e., he's simply another mob boss moving into Gotham to fill the vacuum created by the events of TDK. So what if he has a bird fetish? Admittedly, he'd have a really minor role) I think I'd even just name the third movie Gotham and try to keep this same ensemble-type of feel for the show.

I'll have to get the "plot" some actual thought...[redit][/redit]

Watching these different Batman movies on tv these are definitely not for little kids it would scare them. And then they complain when they have nightmares.

Saturday box office update

So the movie's already broken the quarter million mark, in just 8 days and should reach about what Iron Man and Indy have reached in total so far by tomorrow night...

I think it's safe to say that it's going to be the highest grossing film of 2008...

Julie Newmar thinks Angelina Jolie is purr-fect for the role as Catwoman:

Quote:

"My industry friends tell me [she] has made inquiries about the role,"

While I'd certainly rather see Jolene as Catwoman, I can surely be on board with Angelina playing the part. It's just that Angelina has been in so many roles, and, well, Jolene hasn't...

Given the choice, I'd rather see Jolene over Angelina, mostly because Angelina hasn't impressed me in the slightest...

Ditto. Jolene would be much better for the part.

I'm somewhat baffled by the complaints against the Batman voice. I guess to me it kind of makes sense in a way, because if he used his natural voice, he'd probably be recognized. Now if I'd done it, I'd have used some kind of computer tech to disguise his voice and worked it in as part of the costume, but I can definitely understand the idea behind changing his voice.

Wire's Essential Knight: 7 Classics

Basically it's an article that lists what Sci Fi Wire says is the biggest book influences on the current incarnation of Batman to grace the movie theaters...

ETA: While I was reading the article, it mentioned the actor's name who played Sal Maroni in TDK, and I knew that name was familiar but couldn't think from where, so I looked it up on imdb. Turns out Eric Roberts played the Master in the Doctor Who telemovie (with the Eighth Doctor). I knew I'd seen his name mentioned somewhere before...

Cher set to play Catwoman:

Cher set to play catwoman in next Batman movie

By Sean Hamilton Showbiz Editor, sundaymirror.co.uk 24/08/2008

Cher has been lined up to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie.

The Oscar-winning actress and singer is in talks to star opposite Christian Bale in the third of the "dark" Batman films.

Cher, 62, was invited to join a cast which includes Johnny Depp as The Riddler.

A studio executive revealed: "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.

"The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Shooting on the film, provisionally titled The Caped Crusader, is due to start in Vancouver early next year.

The Dark Knight, this summer's big blockbuster, has been the most successful of the six modern movies, which started with Tim Burton's Batman in 1989.

Say what? :wtf:

They're joking, right? Even if she was younger, I never would have picked her to be Catwoman...

I call bullshit. Nolan doesn't even have a script yet. Pay no attention to this nonsense.

^ Let's hope so.

We all know Jolene would be purr-fect for the role.
