Hope not. I'm the same way.

Is it odd that I liked the regular Earth Alliance uniforms over the redesigned ones?

What, do you by "redesigned ones" mean the black ones Delenn gave to them after they broke of with the EA?

If so, then yes, I also agree!

The EA ones actually looked like uniforms, the new ones look like costumes, like Londo's outfit. I also prefered the S1 dress uniforms with a real military-style belt over the later version in S2.

I would have been fine with the Ivanova/Winters "subplot" if it had actually been a subplot instead of coming out of left field (ala the nonsensical "tension" BS in ANIS). Because it came out of nowhere, it simply caused me to go "Huh?" and that's never a good thing.

And that's why we were wondering if it was a translation problem. We hadn't really seen anything about this before, so we were like, "Huh? What did she just say?"

I like the black uniforms better. I didn't really like the short blue or gray jacket they wore before...

Tracy Scoggins sure does fill out the uniform nicely, doesn't she?

Meh. I honestly and truly don't like her character. Every time she showed up on the screen, I kept thinking "Sure wish Ivanova was still around."

What was the deal there anyway?

So far I really haven't much cared for Season 5, but to be fair I'm only on the second disk.

I seem to recall it was some sort of contract dispute that couldn't be resolved.

As to season 5, I hate to say it, but it's easily my least favorite season, moreso than even season 1. There are a couple of decent episodes in that season, but for the most part, I didn't like it much. :worried:

It was great that they filmed the final episode on S4 when the cast was still there--and I'm saying this mainly 'cause of Claudia, of course.

S5 isn't my cup of tea either, but it wasn't all that bad. B5's new CO didn't appeal to me, and no Ivanova.

I rewatched the episode when Sheridan is being questioned. The end is so freaking frustrating that it ends up being sort of great. Good episode!

Wow, they really had an extended going away for the series, didn't they?

I was reading a blog about Wondercon and JMS was there at the convention and he was asked if there were going to be anymore Babylon 5 lost tales dvd movies from what he said about the dvds sales last year were sucessful and we'll probably get another lost tales dvd. But no Crusade revivval and he mentioned someday in the future about a theatrical Babylon 5 movie. warner Bros is pleased with the Babylon 5 dvds sales and interest from the fans got a very positive response from the studio. No date was mentioned when filming would begin for another Babylon 5 movie dvd. He's busy writting scripts for other movies right now.

Well, whatever JMS does, I hope it will be more satisfying than The Lost Tales was.

As I've had time to reflect on it, I have to say that overall I'm somewhat disappointed with B5. I remember thinkign that this show was pretty cool back when it first came on, and later on when I first started college and Sci Fi was re-running it. I think that it's pretty cool that the entire show was planned out in advance, but when it comes right down to it, the episodes themselves could be somewhat lacking. As a whole, the show has excellent continuity, and I liked how things from episodes past weren't completely forgotten and could turn up again. The large story arcs were also somewhat appealing. Mainly the problem was with subtlty, in that usually there wasn't any. Take the Nightwatch for instance, most of their rhetoric was straight out of 1985. And there was the open and confrontational way they did things that you would think would make anyone with a brain see that they were bad people doing bad things, which I'm pretty sure JMS was trying to do for his audience. Then there was President Clark and pretty much everyone in his administration - they were very obviously Bond villian bad. That's all well in good if you're into that whole good vs. evil, white hats and black hats way of looking at things, but the problem here is that it doesn't mesh with the way B5 made it out to be ambiguous. I mean, they made Clark and his cronies out to be so obviously evil, why wouldn't the vast majority of people in Earth Force have turned on him on their own instead of waiting for Sherridan to come along? After all, it's not like people in the military don't have brains that they can't think for themselves and see illegal orders for what they were the same way Sherridan did. So the way things turned out, I didn't really see any shades of grey that the show was trying to paint.

Then there was what happened with Garabaldi. He was essentially brainwashed by Bester to say some pretty mean stuff about Sherridan, or at least that's what the show was trying to tell us. The thing is, some of the things Garabaldi said were very valid, and I even agreed with him about the extent to which Sherridan had essentially been deified. I mean, sure, Sherridan did some cool things, but at the same time I got a lot of the same vibe with him as I did with Archer as far as how he was glorified by everyone else, and this was even after he did something very stupid by going to Zahadum after everyone warned him not to. But getting back to Garibaldi, I simply can't believe that there was never any sour feelings beyond that look Sherridan cut him when they rescued him. That entire plotline just vanished.

Then there was the dialog. How else do a I put this? A lot of it was cringeworthy. The character development was also somewhat lacking, a casualty of the "big picture" JMS was trying to set up with the show. And don't even get me started on the fifth season - it would've been better had the show ended on the strong note of "Endgame".

When it came to Garibaldi being braiwashed by Bester I wished it had shown if Garibaldi was able to get rid of those telepathic blocks that Bester placed into his mind, I agreed when Garibaldi told Sheridan off he was right about that. His ego got the in the way of doing his job. After he came back from Z'ha 'dun. it did go to his head for awhile.
