I was just curious has anyone read Douglas Adams series Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy are the books any good or just silly. I saw the movie the other night and have listened to the npr radio plays of his other books many years ago.And just wondered if anyone liked his books.

I really enjoyed the first one (the actual Hitchhiker's Guide), but the rest of them never really did much for me. Maybe 'cause Arthur Dent is such a horrific loser throughout the series that he isn't a particularly interesting character to me.

To be entirely honest, I think I preferred the recent movie (which took some liberties)...

Thanks Rigil for the informatiion about the books. I've always wondered if others liked the first book better than the rest of the series. At least in the movie Authur Dent got Trillian at the end of the movie.
