Moderate you, I will...

God, it's hard to believe it's been 30 years since Star Wars first graced the screens of movie theaters...

Gah.

And check it out: Robot Chicken: Star Wars

It'll probably be more fun than that prequels...

Nope, haven't seen it. What can I say, I don't watch TV much anymore... except reruns of shows I liked.

It's hard to believe StarWars is celebrating it's 30th anniversary when i was a kid my Dad, My sister and I were watching Star Wars they had a balcony above us when someone dumped bagfuls of chicken feathers on us when Luke Sky walker was in the tattoine deseert looking for Ben Kenobi. It looked like it was snowing in the theater.lol :guffaw:

Not bad...

Here's one of Star Trek v. Star Wars... personally, I was rooting for the Death Star myself...

Star Trek v. Star Wars

now I'm off to watch the Battlestar Galactica v. Star Trek v. Star Wars one...

BSG v. Star Trek v. Star Wars v. B5

(I think the latter one is a bit too cluttered myself, they've got way too many different kinds of ships and they very obviously used the same footage over and over in several places...)

While this has nothing to do with the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars movies itself, it is notable for being the 30th anniversary of something else related to them: the Star Wars Holiday Special. They had this article over at Sci Fi Wire this morning:

Quote:

Star Wars Holiday Special Feted

What with the presidential election, Dancing With the Stars finale and other pressing matters, one signature anniversary may have escaped your notice this year.

The 30th anniversary of the Star Wars Holiday Special.

It aired--once--on Nov. 17, 1978. It was a cheesefest of such epic bad taste and kitsch that it vanished after that one airing, never more to be seen, except on grainy bootleg video in dank basements and shuttered rooms.

But its absence, while not making the heart grow fonder, has also failed to diminish the scars inflicted on the collective psyche of Star Wars fans and science fiction aficionados over the decades, and its legend has grown such that even the Empire itself, Lucasfilm and the official Star Wars Web site, cannot ignore this year's anniversary.

And so, with uncharacteristic self-effacement, the Lucas people are celebrating the Star Wars Holiday Special in all its gaudy horror with a week's worth of interviews, articles, images and features--everything, it seems, but the cursed thing itself.

For that, you may have to strike your own bargain with the dark forces of evil.

You know, I somehow managed to forget, until reading this article, that that horrid thing aired on my 8th birthday...

And does that mean that 17 November is the date that the Wookies' "Life Day" shoudl be celebrated? :lol2:

Be thankful. Though if you really want to, you can probably find it in all its horrific glory over at YouTube or elsewhere...

From what I heard Lucas and his cronies are constantly vigilant in yanking copies of The Star Wars Holiday Special from webplaces such as YouTube.

Well, one person had 11 of 12 parts of it up the other day (and it had been up for 9 months), and another had at least the first 3 parts... And various others had bits and pieces from it, like Leia singing or the Boba Fett cartoon...
