Apparently, they're planning a two-hour movie "prequel" to nuBSG called Caprica, which will also serve as a backdoor pilot: Caprica gets green-light |

I'll give it a chance. If I find that I dislike it as much as I've come to dislike BSG I'll stop watching. |

The only thing I have to say about it, is that they would have to actually come up with their own storylines for this show, instead of "reimagining" plots from the original series. |

After the miniseries, as far as I can tell, it wasn't so much about reimiagining stuff from the original series as it was making obvious allegories with modern political issues, to the effect of damaging their own established universe and skewing what they've established with their characters. |

^ I was referring to the fact that nuBSG borrowed several stories straight from the original series, like the stuff with the Pegasus... This proposed Caprica movie/possible series wouldn't have that to fall back on, since other than making sure that certain characters actually don't get killed off, they would have to come up with their own plotlines. |

I'd be more interested in a show about the first cylon war, personally. |

I dunno. I suspect it would be more of the "humans utterly and completely suck" stuff that's proliferated the last couple of seasons of nuBSG and has so turned me off of the series because I found myself rooting for the cylons to eradicate the survivors.
Well, frankly, I think nuBSG dealt with Pegasus in a lot better way than the original series ... but then, in most ways, I generally prefer nuBSG over BSG: TOS so take that as you will... |

I'm not saying that they didn't do it better (though the thought of making Commander Cain a woman when all I can picture is Lloyd Bridges in that part does make me , because I liked his gruff Cain who was so sure that he was right and Adama was wrong about the attack on the basestars), simply that they took the story from the original series instead of coming up with their own stories. |

Uh ... I thought you didn't watch the show. And to contest that point, they took elements from the original version (a Cain in command of Pegasus) and did come up with their own story. In BSG: TOS, as I recall, the Pegasus vanished after that big fight with some basestar(s). In nuBSG, it stuck around for quite a while and went through a series of new commanding officers after Cain was killed, culminating in the Beast (as it was known among the fleet) perishing over New Caprica. It's a re-imagining. Stands to reason that some elements from BSG: TOS are going to show up in the new version, just like elements from Trek: TOS are going to show up in that re-imagined movie. |

For those interested, according to this Zap2It article, Sci Fi (or whatever they call themselves now) is streaming an extended version of the premiere episode of Caprica online right now, more than a month before its premiere on TV. |
