Well, I ordered it from Amazon.com and just got it last afternoon, and I pretty much just installed it and played it straight through, and I just got done now. Needless to say, I'm tired, and you probably won;t be seeing much of me online today, because I plan to sleep now.

Long story short, I liked it overall. I can't say that I cared for some of the familiar weapons basically being castrated, like the plasma pistol. I also didn't much care for the new HUD, and for all the raving about duel wielding, I really didn't find much use for it, because there were times where I'd be going to town against the Flood or something, but I could really use the ability to chuck a gernade or switch weapons, but I don't have the time to reach up and hit the button to drop the extra weapon and do so. I'd say that the Brute Shot and the SMG were my favorite weapons for the most part. Every once in a while the carbine or the battle rifle came in handy, but the battle rifle sucked in that you couldn't just go trigger down, which was nice about the SMG during some situations. Needless to say, any extra help I got usually didn't survive that long because I was somewhat awkward with the weapons.

Also unlike most people (at least that I've seen and heard), I didn't find playing the Arbitor took that much away from the Master Chief, and if anything it added to the overall story. Plus I rather enjoyed it for the most part. I also didn't find the ending all that frustrating, except in that it will be a very long time before I can ever play Halo 3.

Oh, one other disappointment, despite the fact this game was specifically designed to work on Vista, and despite the fact my computer actually has some extra RAM and a custom video card just for the game, it really didn't play all that smoothly during some of the cinematic sequences, and at times it even froze up during gameplay, almost like on multiplayer when your ping is too high. Usually at inopportune moments too.

Anyway, I'm tired, so I'll check in later.

Moderately Evil (but Depressed) Mastermind

I thought it was too short. And I wanted to play the Master Chief, not the Arbiter guy, so being forced to play that dude annoyed me.

So, where's the Master Chief/Cortana ship sites? B)

You know, one of the things that annoyed me was that on this official documentary they made for Halo 3, they described the Brutes as "pushovers", when if anything they were actually tougher to kill than the elites usually were. Usually it took quite a few shots with a conventional weapon to put one down (unless it was a rocket launcher), and they had thsi tendancy to go nuts and ram into you, which got pretty bad if there was more than one doing it at the same time in close quarters, because they can kill you just as fast as a Hunter bitch-slapping you that way. At least the energy sword helped with that, because usually I could cut them down before they could hit me.

Johnson is bad ass as usual. :eviltbbs:

Played through on Heroic, and I have to reiterate that Johnson is awesome.

"When I joined the corps, we didn't have any fancy-shmancy tanks. We had sticks - two sticks and a rock for a whole platoon! And we had to share the rock. Buck up boy, you're one lucky marine. :eviltbbs:

"Dear humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to Earth, and we most definitely regret that the corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet."

Two Marine Pilots (simultaneously): "Oo-Rah!"
